Linked Addresses

Hi All,

Do 'linked addresses' matter?
I have 4 entried under this section, but have lived at my current address for over 7 years and no longer have any association with these other adresses.

Is there a notice of dissassociation for property?

Thanks all :)

Multiple or duplicate or old linked address do not "matter" of themselves.

    thanks fermi,

Is there any point in my getting rid of these old addresses then?
I want my file to be accurate, but if it makes no difference at all, I'll do that bit last!

If there is no old financial data associated with them still on your report, then there would be no point.

It's not going to hurt, but it's not explained why the records don't drop after 7 years.
I think the best would be to fix the root of the problem, and not just advise that it's not a problem. It would be great if you could advise on this James.

Does that 8 years 'rule' apply to Equifax as well? I checked my Equifax report yesterday and there is an address linked on my report dating back to 1996 when I was a teenager! Funnily enough the same linked address is not showing on my Experian file

We usually drop linked addresses after about 8 years I think, as long as there is no financial data recorded there in your name. There's no hard and fast rule on this one though and I don't know how the other CRAs manage them. I believe that if you have linked addresses that are over six years old where no financial data is registered then we may be able to remove them sooner. As I've said, they're not going to affect your credit score but if they're bothering you just give us a shout and we'll look at it for you.

I wonder if its not something that makes a difference to your credit report, so is overlooked so as to concentrate on more important things?

I've emailed a request through on the website.
I have 4 entries, 2 are an address I moved out of (well over 8 years ago) and 2 show a link between an address I moved out of nearly 7 years ago and my current address.

I think I might be able to reduce the list from 4 to 1, but will await a response from CE website.

I know it doesnt make a difference to my report, but it would be nice to have all the info correct.

I had loads of linked addresses, one dropped off finally after 8 years then readded itself based on the fact that it was a previous address on my CreditExpert account.

Experian refused to remove it (even though the data was supplied by me, usually they will remove if the data supplier agrees) so I cancelled my CreditExpert account of ~3 years.

Refuse to pay for something that is going to add things to my file.
