As it's so hot, I've just done the very essential dailies only today, and a quick trip to town with DH. Have been reading the paper in the garden but had to do some paperwork so thought I'd stay in the shade for a while which is why I'm on here. Back out in garden soon though, although I think I'll leave grass cutting for tomorrow. Minimal cooking required here later, just potatoes, as DH is doing that man thing called a bbq.Spend less now, work less later.0

OH has done all the flying necessary in the communal garden at the front (ie tying up the climbing roses which were about to put down suckers) and M has almost finished painting the light wells, front walls and the front house wall up to ground level. The outside looks smart!
The inside is a complete and utter tip. I have been up in the attic and pushed and shoved piles of junk around to salvage all duvets and bedding I can find, including 13.5 tog fevver duvets to spread around various houses that will have people staying at our behest. I also found bone-handled cutlery (sorry vegetarians - OH loves it as it was his mother's) which is a bit of a relief as I thought I'd sneaked it out to a charity shop years ago. *sigh of relief at not having to own up*
Saintly OH has said he will start the vacuumming from the bottom of the house and I've done the top floor, so we'll meet in the middle at some point. I'm still washing endless piles of laundry.
Valli: I KNOW 'It's hot!' but apparently not hot enough to dry stuff quickly.Better is good enough.0 -
Pigpen - my version of potato salad used to be potatoes, mayo and spring onions or chives, but I've replaced the spring onion/chive flavour with mustard-flavoured mayo over the past couple of years. I prefer it.Better is good enough.0

You can make a lower calorie version by using yoghurt; Greek yoghurt or cutting the mayo with yoghurt.

Back from mums - I have decluttered her freezer! That's 3 bags of out of date c**p taken to the tip! Steak circa 1988 anyone?
And we took advantage of the 'putting on the roof' delay at Wimbledon to go through her alcohol stash. Crème de Menthe does not keep well! But here drains should be clear - the amount of old sherry (paint thinner/drain cleaner) that went down them was truly enlightening!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Afternoon all
Uni visit decluttered that one is off the list though so I envisage a couple more visits come September.
Flowers I got reduced last night (10 pand 49p) look lovely and bright in the DR
DH has almost got DS1's room straight enough to move DS3 into whilst his room is decorated, I need to get some paint samples this week.
Just going to strip DS3 bed and wash it all including the duvet as he can be in DS1's bed now for a few nights.
May do a HH in the garden in the shade, it is a bit too hot in the sun out there. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
More washing flung on line it's nice here but not HOT, want to swap Valli?
Kids want shepherds pie for tea so the tatties are now on.
DD has just arrived home from her pals so that's my peace hit in the head. Went over to the caravan to see how OH was getting on and supervise the hanging of the weans baby pictures, OH totally loved my input.

Glad to hear she was OK. Did a similar clear out at the other half's mum's when we went over in March, similar number of bags to the tip after excavating all the cupboards. This was the memorable trip when she was in hospital, a visit to the ward resulted in him getting D&V and I was stuck for something to do. Wouldn't have got near the cupboards otherwise. Bottle of spray Windowlene with an offer finishing Dec 1994 was the best I can offer in the age stakes :rotfl:
Actually, good thing it went as the plastic was deteriorating:eek:‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
