Very easy to laminate stairs and the correct stair profiles can be bought but are expensive..........although it may look good, not advised due to what most posters have already said in that it can be lethal, especially if you walk out shower etc with wet feet, so best to stick to carpet IMO.

Hi my brother and SIL have just had it removed from their stairs - they do have children but it was also dangerous for adults. I think you will only be OK if you wear your outdoor shoes all round the house. Have to admit it also looked a bit odd due to the beading on the lip of each step - and was also an extra trip hazard

Our kitchen is on two levels and we had laminate layed. Our fitter managed to source the profiles which go over the edge orf treads and cut them to size. He said it wasn't an easy job to get right. It looks nice for a couple of steps but I wouldn't advocate for a whole flight as it's pretty expensive stuff and the colour ranges seems to be limited.

I don't think I would show myself up putting laminate down anywhere, let alone the stairs. The stuff is cold, noisy, thin and cheap looking - I've even seen my own family's attempts at it, but I'm never impressed.

Nothing will ever beat sinking my feet into a decent carpet, in my opinion - ever!

Seriously thinking of putting laminate across the landing and stairs. Has anyone done it and if so do you now regret it due to scratching etc.. or do you find it really practical?

Looks great... however, huge huge huge downside (my aunt had it done years ago) really have to be careful about coming down the stairs in socks or slippers.

Think I can leave the rest to your imagination...

I've laid several laminate floors, never stairs. I guess the inside 90 degree joins could be glued, but tricky to re-inforce. But how on earth do you do the outer 90 degree joins, using a mitre? Wouldn't much fancy doing that, I would have thought the laminate would very liable to lift and crack. I can't believe they make some gizzmo or joining strip for the purpose, for health and safety reasons (not wanting to be sued).

I find it easy enough to slip on carpeted stairs, I would need airbags if I had laminated them.

Most people use cheap laminate and rarely have it installed properly.
The correct mouldings can be bought for the stair edges, but are expensive. I usually make a new bulnose to match.
Good quality laminates are very realistic, not cheap and last well.
Our stairs are stained and waxed real wood and we've never slipped yet!
