Yeah we have a budget of 240k. Primary schools are covered just wondered about the woodkirk academy catchment. Can morley residents get in?

Woodkirk High is on Rein Road where half is classed as Tingley and the other half Morley. I'm not sure of the exact catchment area but they change and I'd assume most of Morley is covered especially the Birdie Estate etc.

There is a new head teacher at Bruntcliffe so don't rule that or Morley High out. 9 years is a long time and by that point Woodkirk could be rated the worst of the three.

Most of the 4 beds in your price range listed as Morley (LS27) are actually in Gildersome and Churwell at the moment.

Robin Hood is also good to live in. Got a 1st class primary school, and the secondary is going pretty well. Very much sports basis. Well within price range for a nice home.
Buses to city centre every 10mins. I like it here.
  • Just thought I'd finally join up and post since I live in Tingley.

Tingley is quite a large place so if you want to be close to the main bus route to Leeds you need to choose your location carefully. On the main A653 Dewsbury Road there are buses every 15 minutes to Leeds which takes about half an hour. My mum uses them to get to work and they are generally reliable. The other bus route to Leeds runs more centrally through Tingley but is only every hour.

In terms of schools Westerton (which I went to) is the best but I'd imagine is quite popular. Added to that there is another two primary schools fairly nearby so you might be wise to check the admissions policy to see what areas are likely to get your child into Westerton.

Personally I would choose Tingley over Morley as you are close enough to the amenities in Morley but far enough away not to be bothered by any problems of living in a town. Additionally Tingley is better connected to the Motorways being near both the M62 and the M1. In Morley you would have to travel through Tingley to get to the M1 anyway.

If you want any more information, please ask.

Thanks. We are more than happy with Hill Top or Westerton.

I agree that Tingley is close enough to Morley to access services but are not totally against being in a small town so I think it will boil down to which house we like (and are accepted on)!!!

Saying that, our sale is in the balance. We verbally agreed a price on the weekend, but the buyer has now claimed he can't raise the finds so wants us to drop by a 2 grand.

Should really accept but out of principle we are saying no.

Where do you need to get to work to?

We was looking at Morley, but ended up buying at Pudsey, It's easy to get on the M62 via the M606 and trains are every 15 min from Pudsey station with buses every 10 min.

For that kind of price you could get something in Farsley.
  • My job is heckmondwike, my partner will need to get to Leeds/Wakefield to find work. we have a car but I expect i will use that as Leeds/Wakefield will be easier to communte to on public transport

We felt like we got more for our money, it was easier having two city centre in striking distance also we was moving from Rossendale and the OHs eldest child dad lived in Accrington where the train line runs too.

The Schools are OK as well.

If you visit the education department in Leeds they have a brochure for all the schools and it shows the catchment area as well we got one when we moved and visited the department.

I travel to work in Rochdale everyday and it normally takes 40 min in the morning and about 50 min in the evening.
