    I think they would have to make it clear that the data would be forwarded to TVL for it not to raise DPA issues. (It may also require formal opt-in/opt-out).

    Yes, bought a TV Friday. But they needed my name and address, or they wouldn't have known where to deliver it.

    I think we all know BBC TV Licensing wont be quick to tell stores this news as its their job to collect money for the BBC

    I work for a large retailer and we were told the day after it was announced on the TV Licensing website.

    Yes. It was previously a compulsory step that couldn't be bypassed on the till system. It has now been removed so there is no option to enter any details anywhere.
