Anyone bought any "Television Receiving Equipment" recently?

Options
ie. since the 25th.

Did they ask for your details and, if so, what was your answer?

    Since the 25th of when?

I've been asked for details for years. Asda wouldn't sell me a TV few years ago without address details.

Apparently the rules have changed. I think that Bedsit Bob is trying to find out if retailers have implemented the change. Perhaps he will confirm (or not) whether this is the reason for his post.

Who cares? It hardly makes any difference to the TV license requirement.

The OP cares that is why he asked the question.

Many other people also care because it seems that some retailers may be acting outwith the terms of the Data Protection Act

Buying a TV no longer requires the retailer to provide TV Licensing with the buyer's name and address.

Hmm so does this mean they'd be breaking the Data Protection Laws if they do now?

Either-way I'm glad the (censored) at the BBC wont be getting information that has nothing to do with them

Of course they are not. It as changed from a 'requirement' so the purchaser can decline to provide. No data breach.
