Does your child have breakfast before or at childminders/nursery? (8am start)

I think if you end up giving your child breakfast so early then the CM is only going to end up feeding him again not long after you dropping him off as he's going to be hungry again. Cereal or toast is not too difficult for her to manage, surely.
When my two were in day nursery, they were dropped off there at 8am and had breakfast there. Now they are both in school and they go to breakfast club at school which starts at 7.45am (because their school starts and finishes early to stagger with the English medium school on the same site).

I will also say that my cm & I had a conversation before he started whech covered all this & this was also written down, including what I was to provide re: nappies, snacks, change of clothes etc & as well as the dietary requirements. Did the cm never put something similar together? If not she does sound a bit slack but tbh she probably just assumed that you fed the your child as most babies this age are fed a bottle on waking & a breakfast like mashed banana & porridge is given at the same time.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

She basicly said you provide the nappies & change clothes, Ill sort everything else ...
I always send a well packed bag well outstanding what she origally asked for lol
Tbh I don't think I will use her again, but I am only at work for 7 more weeks and will be back on M/L.
It seems mad to change her now for sake of giving someone 6 weeks work but I am considering it.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
well in that case she does sound really flaky. Maybe remind her what she said, that she never mentioned that she wouldn't give breakfast. I lucked out with my cm, she is totally professional as well as loving & very maternal. I hope you find someone similar in future.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Realistically how much breakfast will your 10 month old actually want to have just 20 minutes after having had his bottle? My initial reaction when you explained your morning schedule, is that your son would be left feeling overly full from a bottle and breakfast. Then be rushed out the door whilst you ferry your husband and him around with the potential for him to end up being sick. The last thing you or the child minder need to happen.
It was very unprofessional on the part of your child-minder, that she pulled a face when you said your son hadn't had breakfast. That suggests that she felt put out by having to care for your child in a way that is normally an expected part of her role. She should be better organised and have factored in this requirement into her schedule.
I am not sure that she is trustworthy to be honest. She has not been straight with you about the play centres. Most don't open till around 10am so as to allow for mums to drop off their older children at school before making their way round. Personally I wouldn't trust her to care for a child of mine after the way she has conducted herself. At just 10 months old your son cannot tell you if she is meeting all his needs, or whether she is only doing things she finds convenient. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -

Tbh this is why I went for a day nursery over a childminder - I know there are plenty of good childminders out there, but when your child is too young to be able to tell you themselves whether the person is doing a good or a bad job, you've got no real way of knowing. Very unscientific I know, but I was able to go to work on the days my children were in nursery and not worry at all.

If you drop your child off at about 8 and she has a school run to do she may not have time to give him breakfast until she gets back, which would mean a very late breakfast and probably being late for the playgroup she takes him to.
Why not swap things over and give him breakfast first, then he can take his milk with him.0 -

Same for us with our first, she spent 4.5 days at nursery. When she started school I arranged a childminder for a couple of days pick ups for her. We were very impressed and now our youngest has 2 days at nursery and 1 with her. I wouldn't have had a clue what to look for in a CM first time round.
My 18 month old has breakfast before AND at nursery (greedy boy!)0 -
I know I am out of touch with these things - but does a 10 month old baby really go to playgroup every morning?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

I know my sons old cm would either go to whatever playgroup was on that day & meet up with other cm's or else meet other cm's at the park or round another cm house for an informal kids club, a good chance for the kids to get socialization, stimulation & also fresh air, afternoons were in doing crafts or storytime, whatever until it was time for pick up of older charges.
For me, this was a better situation than being stuck in a baby room at a nursery but it is down to what the individual parent wants for their child.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
