NatWest & RBS PDF Statements
Comments

To be fair it does say could be.
Yes but one thing you need to do in financial services is manage expectations. RBS and NatWest must know full well that PDF statements will never be accepted by any reputable or competent bank as proof of ID or address, because they won't do so themselves, will they? So why are they putting thoughts in peoples' heads that they could be? The documents "could" be accepted in the same way that the !!!!!cat Dolls "could" come round my house tonight and take turns riding me. It's not going to happen.
Weasel words don't make it any less misleading.urs sinserly,

It says 'proof of your identity, address or income'.
It doesn't state to 'open a bank account' - if it did I'd be inclined to agree with your sentiment.0 -

It isn't just that no reputable or competent bank or BS will accept downloaded PDF statements. Just about nobody else reputable or competent will.
I absolutely agree with JJ that it's stupid for Natwest/RBS to raise false expectations.0 -

I don't know whether you class RBS/Natwest as competent but they would be accepted by them as proof of income in relation to lending applications.0 -
I don't know about the address thing tbh. The whole point is to receive something in the post to prove that you have access to that property to retrieve post.
If you can print it online then it completely removes that proof.0 -

That would be nice, except that it also states identification and address... which is our point. The sentence "JuicyJesus is an undisputed sex god/Adonis who can fire lightning from the tips of his fingers, and also the sky is blue" isn't rendered any more factual overall by including an actual fact on the end as an afterthought, because the first part is still patent b*llocks.rabbit_burrow wrote: »I don't know about the address thing tbh. And that's why PDF statements aren't accepted as proof of address. Except NatWest thinks they might be, even though as one of Britain's biggest four banks they should bloody well know better!urs sinserly,

If Natwest/RBS accept their own downloaded PDF statements when processing an application for one of their own products, they might as well just ask you for your sort code and account number because they should be able to see all your account history with that information, without you providing some downloaded PDF file. Mind you, may be their systems aren't smart enough to look at an applicants history with them. Or may be they want to test whether people would be stupid enough to apply for a Natwest/RBS loan/mortgage with a forged current account statement. Who knows.
Other than that, for any non-Natwest/RBS outfit: Downloaded online PDFs aren't even accepted by the likes of William Hills, and they don't even provide credit accounts. So if you have found a lender that does accept them, I would most likely put them into the "incompetent", and also into the "not reputable", category.0 -

I have just looked outside, and the sky is indeed as blue as it could get. Therefore the first part of your sentence must surely also be true. Don't disappoint me, and all your other admirers! :cool:0 -

I obviously wasn't referring to applications for loans/mortgages within their own brand. If clarification is required I meant that they accept them from other institutions.
Is there a chance solicitors may accept them? Who knows, it's not up to RBS group to decide on their usage. I don't think for a minute they've been misleading but if you wish to Tweet them 'they' are usually listening out for mentions.0 -

Ah right, thanks for putting me right, sorry for misunderstanding. If they do indeed accept downloaded PDFs as proof of ID/address/income, I would seriously question their competence, yes.0
