Wow...all that. No wonder you brought a bottle of Vodka.

I dont think anyone would give you free bottle of Vodka if you dropped yours in the car park.

I work in one stop and I would replace a bottle if it broke just outside the store and the customer was nice. Once it is out of the store it is not our responsibility but I would happily do it as it can still be written off, but not for some of our sour faced customers that might try to make demands.
    Nice to save.

When I used to work in a supermarket if a bottle was smashed in the carpark then you would get another...no questions asked as long as the seal was still intact.....that was the co-op. Not doing so is down right mean.

I would also say that I wouldnt expect the supermarket to replace it as it had fallen out of the trolley - how did it happen?

Quite simple. The original poster didn't pack it properly.

I'm sick to death of people thinking everything that they do which goes wrong is someone elses responsibility.

In our shop, if it's broken, it's written off as waste, same if it's been broken just outside cos the bags aren't the strongest in the world.

Its very harsh. Asda are a huge company you only had to show them your receipt to show you had just purchased it, and they should really then of replaced it. I think its mean of Asda they must have known you wernt scamming them. I have to admit i have only found good service and lovely staff at our Asda.

Well i'm sick of people being nasty on here! there was no need for that post at all.

If you read all the posts, the OP actually said further on that she didn't expect them to replace it. She just wanted to let off some steam.

    Shame on you.

    But the intention was there.

I know it used to be the case that if the seal was still intact, it was covered, but not sure if that still applies.

    Remember.

The intent was there, if you build on the intent it will become and action.
Ergo, wants someone to pay for something which isnt there fault. Its called S.O.P (SOmeone elses Problem) and eventually it will become S.O.P (standard operating procedure).

    Thank you in advance.

I remember when I worked in Sainsburys (many years ago now mind), they would replace it if you dropped it on their property, but this was purely for customer service, not because they were obliged to.

However with Asda having a smaller profit margin, perhaps they have to control costs more (although with the current exchange rate Walmart should be raking it in).

I once dropped a case of beer on the way home from shopping, and 4 bottles broke :(

The Supermarket gave me a complete new case of beer :)
