I do 15K max, not a huge amount0

Deffo worth a diesel at 15k mileage then.
I have an old Merc for commuting to work and really can't fault it as a work horse.
Check out mbclub.co.uk for the occasional bargain. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I didn't realise you were planning on doing that many miles in one of the big engined cars.
At best the BMW and Merc will get 25mpg which at the current rate is an annual fuel bill of £3570.
If you can pay more and find an old VAG diesel, you should get close to 50mpg with a fuel bill of £1826.
Over the three years you are planning on doing this for, that's over £5k extra in fuel over a more economical model, not even taking rises in to account.
You really need to run the figures against your current Kuga maybe keeping to midpoint and letting go or trying to get a lower finance rate. I really don't think this is as black and white as it seems.0 -
Aargh, stop confusing me! Lol. What would you buy if you were me?0

Thanks Jamie, I could never have worked those figures out! The golf does 55mpg......Maybe you're right though and I should keep the Kuga? I might leave it til I MOT it and see how it does, I've got a feeling it'll need stuff doing - it doesn't run right, no idea what the problem could be or if it would be expensive!! Lol....0 -

Will call after 9, no mention of tax/mot in the advert...probably because there isn't any, lol. Worth a call though

Oddballjamie's post about re. fuel costs was bang on.
The 'incredible service history' appears to stop 30,000 miles ago. Has it been serviced since? If not I'd be a little twitchy about the turbo failing (which would cost about the same as the car to fix). [Note, I'm NOT a mechanic.]
I wonder what others would think of this:

This car is slow (0-62 mph is 17.5s!) but doesn't have a turbo to fail making it potentially less risky?
Or as a similar alternative to the Golf, this:

The Golf looks promising, good history too.
The Kia also looks good but doubt you will see over 30mpg.
Had a quick look about and this may be worth a look

If you can find the extra then this is nice and should see another 50k

That Skoda Ultrasonic has found, that's the best one yet.0
