I received an email from TalkTalk today offering a free new router. The email contained the following:
At TalkTalk, we're always looking for new ways to improve our service for our customers. I'm glad to be able to tell you that you have been selected to receive one of our new, most powerful wireless broadband routers completely free of charge and without any conditions.
Has anyone else received this? I wonder why they are upgrading routers free of charge?

Not received an any such email and even if i did, i would flog the TT router on ebay - that's assuming its worth anything. I'm using a Draytek Vigor 120 bridge modem connected to a Netgear R6300 802.11ac router and works far better than the TT supplied router...think it was the Echolife HG532.0 -
This new, free router appears to be a Huawei HG533. I know nowt about it!0

Weak attempt at humour, there has been concern in security circles that in using Chinese Huawei equipment in our Telecom network exposes us to espionage through the back door. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

the hg533 is a good router, they are not worth much on ebay around £150

I received one of these emails today. They only sent me a router a few months ago! The last one they sent seems to have my account info hard wired so you won't be able to sell it0

I'm more concerned that using the internet with any kit exposes me to espionage by GCHQ and the yanks..0
