Getting abuse for "pretending to be disabled"

I am disabled. Yet these 2 men I know, seem to think they know better than my consultants.
They keep telling people there's nothing wrong with me because I try and fight the pain and keep doing whatever I want to do.
If I use my scooter, I'm just lazy.
It's really upsetting and have become really anxious about seeing them in town.
Rant over, thanks for listening/reading

Sorry to say, but in today's intolerant climate, that kind of abuse is a hazard of being disabled. I have something wrong with my knee so started to use a stick recently. OMG, the comments! Total strangers saying things like "Why don't you get a job?" ( I work full time and have done forever, it feels like.) and "Did that stick help you at ATOS?" I have never had the need to claim disability, not even so much as a blue badge, but the animosity out there towards people with any kind of disability, even just limping along with a stick, really did surprise me.0

 That's Absolutely disgusting, I really do despair of this country.
OP you shouldn't have to put up with this. Take a look at this link http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/discrimination_e/discrimination_discrimination_because_of_disability_e/disability_discrimination.htm#harassment_because_of_disability. It's a Citizens Advice link, I thought it might help.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

Really? what sort of place do you live that complete strangers make uncalled for comments like that?
I'd move or grow a thicker skin!
Or exercise my right to call a wank3r a wank3r and tell them to mind their own flipping business.
Maybe they have mental health issues of their own such as masochistic tendencies - after all a stick is a weapon;)
I have never been treated like that despite having far uglier and more obvious signs of illness and 'not-normalness' than a mere walking aid.0 -

In a discussion about the ignorance and abuse directed towards people with disabilities, you suggest it is the result of a mental illness. Oh the irony.0 -

Tempting to move, but beautiful cities built right next to the sea with great weather are hard to come by in Britain :-)
Tempting. I'm usually outnumbered...OldMotherTucker wrote: »Or exercise my right to call a wank3r a wank3r and tell them to mind their own flipping business.
More like sadistic tendencies.OldMotherTucker wrote: »Maybe they have mental health issues of their own such as masochistic tendencies - after all a stick is a weapon;)
I get the impression it's partly to do with age, as in clearly of working age but using a stick, plus being out and about during "normal" working hours. Given how few people do actually work 9 to 5, it amazes me that anyone could conclude that someone on their downtime during those hours is "clearly not working". There just seems to be a section of the community that regards anyone who appears to be disabled as a con artist.OldMotherTucker wrote: »I have never been treated like that despite having far uglier and more obvious signs of illness and 'not-normalness' than a mere walking aid.0 -
I've had it all from intolerant people demanding to know why my OH hasn't been caught yet for working and claiming disability benefit (to which I snap it's DLA not ESA and he is perfectly entitled to work if he wants) to a debt collection agency I was having trouble with when I was off work just before having my op last year that said I wasn't a cancer patient and they would keep ringing till I paid as there was nothing wrong with me so there was no reason not to ring...*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
