O2 - contracts

Thanks AP. Your 12 months finishes one month before mine does so I will just go ahead and use your dates except I will substitute June for May.
I sent the letter on Saturday 26/05/07 because Monday 28/05/07 was a bank holiday. If your end of contract day is 30/07/07, you should aim to have the notice of disconnection to arrive a day before 29/06/07, as 30/06/07 is a Saturday. Also send the secured e-mail on 28/06/07.0 -
Oops just realised that my contract ends on the 20th not the 30th of July as I posted earlier. I can't explain why I moved it on 10 days but I better make sure I don't make that mistake again as it could prove costly.0

My first bill with O2 (number ending 0001) is dated 04 Oct 2006. When would I have to give the 30 day notice? Does October count as one of the months so I send the notice by 04 August 2007 or is the first month November so that I send the notice by 04 September 2007? Thanks!0

Hi, just wanted to post a question about the direct debit mandate.
I've got my PAC, should be disconnecting on 04 August at the 12 months anniversary. Billing date is the 20th of each month.
O2 have already taken the payment for July, which covers line rental from 04/08 to 03/09. I'll obviously receive a bill after 04/08 for any call charges incurred that month.
Should I cancel my direct debit so no payment can be taken in August, then pay by cheque/BACs/credit card for any outstanding call charges, or let the August payment be taken and hope O2 credit me for the unused line rental?
When I was with Orange, all I had to do was phone them up and they credited the extra line rental right away via cheque.
H.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -
Don't stop the DD mandate because O2 won't be able to take monies that may be due for on the 04/08 bill and they may then refer this to a credit rating agency. O2 will have to credit you where credit is due to you.0

You will find that on O2 contracts that clause 11.2 says that you must give "at least" 30 days notice to quit. There really is nothing to stop you writing to O2 now and te;ling them that you want the contract to end on the last day of the minimum term.0 -
As others say its only a minimum contract you signed up for, it still continues after that if you don't cancel.
I'm not sure about the cancellation period, though i guessimg its not right.
I request my pac code from o2 just the other day after trying to get a good deal from retentions who were unable to match other deals i'd seen.
I was then texted the pac code either same day or next and the full letter with pac code came the next day in the post0 -

Right but just out of interest when is the last day I have to inform them by? 4th August or 4th Sept? Thanks

Thanks. Will claim back the credits if O2 don't cover it themselves. Will be good to have some money in hand before I go away.

Although the bill might have been dated 4 Oct 2006 you might have been billed for some days prior to that date. What was the first day of service on your phone as this is what really governs the date on which you need to terminate on?
Assuming that the first day was 4 October, then you will give notice no later than 30 days before 4 October, in other words at the start of the twelfth month.0
