  • Have set up a gmail account now - I can't stand it any more. I am so untechy that I can't figure out how to set it up to receive my hotmail e-mails. Could someone be so kind as to spell it out in words of one syllable?

  • Thanks ballyblack - seems to have worked OK. Couldn't have done it without you though.

I own my name domain name and use that email address everywhere. However on my website, it simply forwards the mail to another address so I can change email "supplier" whenever I want and easily get all my emails swapped.

Most e-mails I receive are now going into my gmail account but 2 or 3 are still going to my hotmail account. Not sure why. Also, they are all going into a POP file in my hotmail account. Do I just delete them from there? Don't like gmail as much as hotmail but I'll probably get used to it and it's so less frustrating than Outlook has been for the last few weeks. My daughter uses Hotmail and hasn't had any problems so it must just be some of us.

They should first go into your hotmail account.

    Then gmail should collect them.

Some hotmail may end up in your Spam folder in gmail

Poor Microsoft. Vista, Windows 8, Outlook.com. It seems they're just rubbish at everything theses days. Sad to see such a distinguished company in a such a mess.
  • Sods law that since I've moved to gmail I go back onto my hotmail account daily to make sure I'm not missing anything and it's been working perfectly. Does it look like they've fixed the problem? Should I revert to Outlook?

After my initial complaint I have now found that hotmail is back how it used to be. IS working as it should.
Fingers crossed it continues like this.
