Part time job ideas

Web work does generally fall into two categories - design or development. Sorry but I really don't think you'll find a job now that relies purely on html (speaking as someone who does the development side using .NET). Design side is about layouts, CSS, image editing (eg PhotoShop), cross browser compatibility, etc. If you're really keen to focus on the web site work you will need to learn more to get jobs in that area, for example client side scripting such as Javascript (using jQuery is a good start), as well server side code such as PHP or C# if you're not so keen on the design side. It is doable, but you will have to work hard for it.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0

Have you thought about volunteering part time doing web-design, admin etc for charities then using those skills to get a full time job once you are used to working again?
A part-time job as a van driver or similar will not help when you want to go full time in a serious career.
If you just google volunteering I am sure you will find something, infact I worked for one called the Wisdom Trust for a while and learn some remote working skills and webdesign in the real world.

You can get part time work in lots of design/web related tasks as work from home here http://www.studentgems.com/
You can make a little money from it but not much.
Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there! :cool:0 -
I work one day a week in a letting agency. Try them and estate agents, they often have part time staff.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

Yes, I do agree you have to be careful sometimes. Just sending off your CV will reveal most of your personal details to some unknown company/person.0 -

I know. I can do HTML, some CSS and I can design and code a website. I can use Photoshop, I know all about different browsers etc. I am trying to learn some jQuery/PHP stuff, but it just doesn't stick in my mind. I can't do C# at all. I found HTML easy to learn and CSS isn't too bad, but for some reason I can't remember any coding I've looked at for other languages. With design, I can not draw at all and with Photoshop I can do some things fine and completely fail or other things. Overall, I'm not too great with the pen tool, but it does depend what I'm doing.
Basically, I can do half of each side and no matter what I try and do I just can't do the other half
It's rather annoying knowing I can actually build an entire site and make it look good and work fine yet knowing there's not really any jobs that suit my exact skills. 0 -

I have volunteered. I did admin for a charity and it involved working on their Intranet pages, but they ran out of work for me eventually and it hasn't helped me at all with getting a job sadly.
Actually for personal reasons getting a job such as driving part time will greatly help me to move into a full time position, plus it is still work experience and proves I can hold down a paid job. Still, I understand what you're saying and that driving obviously doesn't show web/admin skills and I don't want to drive full time.
Thanks for the links. I'll check them out

Exactly. Even through job websites I often wonder who is looking at my CV, but at least it should be someone in a company whereas on Gumtree it could be anyone at all.0 -
I would choose Website design.0

I read on here some time ago about being a remote PA. The businesses would forward their phones to the PA when away on holiday or busy, the PA would then deal with enquiry and book work in for them. Do their admin and quotes/invoices/advertising.
They had access to their emails and online diary.
The principe was that people cannot afford a full time worker but could pay for 2 hours a week or when they were on holiday.
So they had many varied clients who each paid a small value.
I thought it was an excellent idea as I hate ringing a tradesman to get no answer within the day and go elsewhere, I saw huge potential with the idea for home workers.
