Free Boiler - Pension Credit
Comments
-
My mother is in the same situation and i.e pension credit after working all her life, she phoned the companies and because her boiler wasnt on the list she was told she could not have this despite the fact her boiler is 30 years old! Seems odd as the boiler would be below the effeciency threshold, and ideas here?
Thanks
I don't think it matters that her boiler is 30 years old, or however many years old. The main thing is: has it stopped working? If yes, she can get a replacement. There is a scheme, but as it has changed names so many times I'm unsure what it's called now. If it still works then she can't.
I also don't see how it matters that the lady has worked all her life. So have most of us.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

We qualified for the free boiler too - the scheme we qualify through is because our boiler is over 14 years old and we are below the qualifying income. We had our survey done in April and were told the boiler would be fitted in less than 6 weeks. 10 weeks down the line we are still waiting despite emails and phonecalls etc. Our gas bill has shot up despite only heating the ground floor over winter and even then only at 18 degrees. Would really like to get this sorted soon. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

The boiler has to be over 14 years old and has to be WORKING to qualify for the free energy efficient boiler under the ECO deal. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Hi all,
Update;
We had a visit on Monday from a chap from the affordable warmth team with British Gas.
He asked to see proof of house ownership, pension credit, and a gas bill.
He then did a complete inspection of the house - boiler, water tank, radiators etc.
He said my dad is eligible for the boiler. The boiler criteria was it was working but inefficient (my dads is 25 years old). I'm not sure if broken ones are accepted because it is to save money on future bills. (estimated at £300 per year).
He said someone would be in touch re installation within 2 days. Phone call today and they are coming on Thursday to fit.
After all the initial confusion, it now looks like it will be completed.
Thanks again for all the replies.0 -
Does anyone know which model Vallaint boiler would be installed.

Hi all,
My dad had his boiler fitted today with no hiccups.
After the initial stresses and problems it was finally a success.
The scheme he used was called the affordable warmth and was through British Gas.
Thanks for the advice and points in right direction.

Thanks for the feedback glynm15,
I said in an earlier thread " For myself I'm only interested in how many delivered units. By this I mean how many have been completed, as in men in, old boiler out, new boiler in, and the householder signed off and satisfied ". Your dad fits in that completed category - congratulations.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
