Primary School selling beers at sports day?

I don't think it's right to sell alcohol on school premises!
On Sports day the school I work in serves water/squash to the kids as well as a large ice pop.0 -
I think it is unfortunate and that they will not provide refreshments for the students but will profit from the parents. I do not think it is totally wrong to sell a few beers at such an event to help boost the schools coffers but the least they can do is provide cold drinks and ice lollys for the kids even if they charge a small fee rather than rely on alcohol sales. I would check and see if it is licensed though.0

Never heard of this at all at any school.
What on earth are they thinking selling beer at sports day? I'm all for getting parents involved in their child's education, but beer at sports day isn't the way to do it!
Our sports day is tomorrow and hubby has discussed with another parent which one of them is taking the flask of tea and the other the coffee. Parents don't get catered for at our sports day, but the kids do. The PTA buys each child a juice cup to drink.
I'd be writing to the chair of governors if I'm honest - serving alcohol is so out of order at primary sports day. I'd actually LOVE it from a personal enjoyment perspective, but big picture of the whole child's education means its something a school shouldn't even consider.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

If I'm being honest my son's sports day was last week, and it was scorching. I'd have killed for a cold beer0

Beer - No. We don't serve alcohol at any school event.
Sports day we serve cream teas and squash. A good fund raiser!
My son's school fete always had a beer tent. How sad that it was full of beer monsters (you could only consume drinks in a certain area rather than walk around with them) while their kids wanted their parents to be wandering around with them.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. My kids have gone to 3 excellent schools and there has been beer on sale at each one's fetes. I've even had one myself (but not two), and the last middle school (one of the top state schools in the country) one had a local brewery stand whose offerings were really good.
People who feel they need to dictate what is right and wrong to others all the time are more of a nuisance than a can of lukewarm larger on a school field. We don't need to be nannied about everything.
The idea that the parents are going to get sloshed and have a brawl or something is ridiculous.0 -

Lol The thing is that Im not totally against the whole beer selling thing provided they have the licence etc to do so and hopefully parents will be responsible enough not to over do it and yes they are prob trying to raise funds for the school, but its the fact that they couldnt provide even a little drink or lollie for the kids esp when they have done so in the past?LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT0 -
