Quiet Saturday here as OH is helping SIL move house.

Mini-Kube and I are chilling out at home - have sorted through his toys, put up the new vertical blinds and are making a lasagne... Hes helping by talking a nap but we live in a flat at the mo and the neighbours keep slamming the front door and waking him :(

    Roll on house move! X

    Roll on real life..!

No idea GoldenShadow :( Was supposed to be mid-July <fat chance!> - we're seeing the solicitor tomorrow but I'm aware theres a problem with part of the garden not being in the plans so I suspect it could drag on for a wee while! Good on you starting your deposit as a student, it won't take as long as you think :)

Well I was unimpressed with N@tionwide customer service today for the first time in our history banking with them - our offer documents still haven't arrived (2 weeks on), initially due to a computer error on their part and now god only knows why lol. The solicitor got their copy, but not the valuation report. Called today to discuss it with them and I found the lady rather short with me :(

NSD today, it would have been a spend day but I found a lonely magnum lurking in the freezer so that saved me from a stress related goodies trip lol.

Rubber beef for tea (a variant of rubber chicken lol), leftovers will form a pie for tomorrow and if theres any spare pasties for lunch on Friday.

Getting on with crocheting a big colourful circular blanket for mini-Kubes room if we ever get the house lol.

We got a copy of the inventory today and I'm sorry to say the big chipboard cupboard in the bathroom is not leaving with the current owners lol

Rubber beef sounds like it might make it on to my next meal plan. DH will be pleased as our frugal shopping rarely stretches to much meat. I think he's enjoyed having chicken for 5 meals this week!
What type of yarn do you use for blankets KK? I crocheted a blanket as a kind of practice piece years ago in cheap acrylic (99p/100+g) and it looks fine but I wouldn't want it on my skin, equally my latest wool for a jumper was more like £8/100g so couldn't do a blanket out of that! Would love to do baby blankets when we start having mini-katz

Well at the min I'm using up some patons DK smoothie which crochets up lovely however is quite 'splitty' (if that word means anything to you, I dont know how else to describe it - the individual strands within the wool dont hold well together as its so smooth) and hard to tie off successfully as its so smooth - have 4 balls left to use. I get the impression it'll wash well and its lovely and soft.

Have 2 balls of patons fairytale soft DK waiting though and its lovely crocheted up, really soft and cosy. It's pink, so *unfortunately* I'll have to do something for me rather than DSs room lol... :rotfl:

I think both of those are around £2.50 a ball.

Have you come across any nice wools? xx

Saw the solicitor today - she thinks things should be sorted for the end of July, fingers crossed...

OH took the day off so we had lunch and coffee in town, not very MSE ;-/

I have a splitting headache so might follow mini-Kube in for an early night. Is 8pm a ridiculous bedtime? I just know he'll be up at about 4ish lol not sure I can face it without a good sleep behind me!

    Night all xx

Just popping in! Contracts are due to go out tomorrow with a view to completion next Friday! (Finally we have some movement!)

The garden issue got resolved; NW devalued the property without it and the vendor discounted the price by the same amount (£4k) so we have saved £4k and the associated 25 years of compound interest... feeling pleased with the outcome even though it took a while :)

  • Reading some of your diaries this evening and getting in the mood to OP! Completion has been put back to *next* Friday, but we don't mind that too much as we're over in England this weekend and can use the time next week to do some packing.

I have been going through our budget and working out where we can afford to shave some off here and there to OP. The mortgage calculator is a great motivational tool! We are allowed to OP up to 10% a year (and as we'll be starting with 100700 I make that about 10k)... with me on maternity I doubt we'll achieve that this year but who knows!

Can anybody clear up a basic mortgage question for me? So if we complete on the 20th, and our 1st mortgage payment is 1st Oct, I know the first payment will be a lot higher, but is it higher by the interest from the 20th Sept - 1st Oct, or is it interest for the whole month of sept, or is it just a double payment, or how do they work it out? Mortgage will be £620 a month and they've said £1094 for the first payment in the offer document which seems a lot if it just covers from the 20th... confused!
