KW, I'm so sorry to hear this
I can understand how much you want to help, even though you're practically incapacitated yourself. There's plenty of help you can give even on crutches, as long as you can actually get there - chatting, helping her stay hydrated (can she manage to drink water?), reading to her. One tip from my mum's experience of my dad having to be in a nursing home - have pictures there of your mum's younger days, to remind your mum, yes, but also to remind the staff that this is a person with a family and a life, not just an illness. Hope that makes sense. The staff where my dad was were very good, actually - 6 of them came to his funeral, on their own time, and one of them was working elsewhere by then, but she came along anyway.
Take care of yourself, as well as your mum xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks folks (*sniff* you lot are fantastic!), I think part of the stress is that we live 200 miles away! So no chance of just popping round (we need to kennel the dogs etc first!)Must use my stash up!0

Difficult times indeed, KW - so sorry to read your news, especially as Mum lives far away. Hope you can get over to visit her soon. (((hugs)))0
