I mean one just specifically to keep the boards free of old comps, not listed to send pm's for merges etc
Yes I agree too that if the bg's haven't got the time or inclination to do the job then they should "step down"
Ah a secret BG who works behind the scenes...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Ok, I agree mostly, but am going to put that cat in the middle of the pigeons. In one sense it is absolutely up the BGs to request more help, and/or decide to step down or whatever. But on the other hand, if it's awkward for one BG to 'moan' about another, then perhaps they need us to step in and moan on their behalf. If only because perhaps the boards would be even better if we had 4 BGs who covered what needs doing. I have always thought that we need at least 1 BG to be around during normal working hours - not always of course, but generally. When we get trouble here during the day, it would be so helpful to see one of the BGs green lighted. So Glad I think you should do the honourable thing and quit work so you can be here instead

Diva has had some real life issues way more important than mse to deal with, I'm sure when she can she will be firing on all cylinders again xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0

Well if that's the case Toniq then maybe a sabbatical would be the best answer, a temporary break from all BG duties, then she wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of MSE'ing and can concentrate on getting her real life issues resolved and then come back when she felt she could.Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

Possibly Divadee & Mrs Tine carry out work behind the scenes that we are not aware of but is required?
Most of us only use BG's for merges so when these are not carried out maybe that skews are view?0 -
Sorry to contribute but I think a lot of people do not realise the effort and time some folk contribute to keeping this running as smoothly as it does. I have eyes and I now realise. Thank you to those who do it. I could be trained up at some point . . . A. to actually post comps and B. to maybe help in some way if I can.
as tesco says - every little helps . . .2/20 NSD0 -
I think having another BG on here would be a good thing. There's a few members here who seem to dedicate every wakening hour (and they never seem to sleep either) to posting comps, helping other on here, offering advice and generally just being an all round good egg.
Not sure if I should be naming who I think would be a fab BG, or whether they would want naming, but the chap who I'm thinking of already knows I think he'd be an ideal BG, because afterall, he is doing it already (minus the merging)UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0 -

HOW DO YOU BECOME A BOARD GUIDE?
Board Guides are dedicated users who want to give something back to the site.
Now and then we post on the Site Feedback board or individual boards asking for volunteers.
Generally, the Board Guide picked would be someone who uses a particular board and already understands how it works. An enthusiasm for keeping that board running smoothly and helping newbies find the information they need quickly and easily is the key.
For obvious reasons, if the Forum Team has received reports about a particular poster,
that person won't normally be considered for a Board Guide position.

I think that's a really good point Weeowens. It's why I would be reluctant to criticise anyone here. We never know what's going on for any of us, or how much good work peeps are doing on the QT.
However, what we can be aware of, without criticism, is where things could be improved. I think that's the point; not to moan at anyone, but to review and consider where improvements can be made.
I see a lot of old threads hanging around, which suggests more hands are needed, and when we get Trolls and other unpleasant thread issues, it would help to have green lighted and active BGs around.
