Horrah! Today is bonus day!:j
Meaning...51% of my credit card has been paid off and I'm into the 4000s milestone!
All my bonus bar £250 has been transferred to the CC. I'm keeping this chunk to buy a Barbour coat. Flamboyant I know but they last forever & it doesn't change my debt free date
I have come to realise that becoming debt free is similar to dieting, restrict yourself too much & you'll splurge/binge sooner or later :cool:CC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14

Agreed. Speaking from the perspective of someone who had been on the 5:2 diet for three weeks then flipped and ate a whole packet of Curly Wurlys.
I've only just noticed you have this diary, I wondered why you had stopped posting in the old one and now it all becomes clear. Well done on getting into the £4000s and having the discipline to only spend £250 on yourself. :TBarclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.

I'm three months from being credit card free, and then I have the joys of my £1950 overdraft to tackle. It does seem like a lesser debt, even though the interest isn't that much better! I'm probably not a very helpful influence - I think £250 isn't an excessive amount to spend on yourself from a big bonus and I too spannered my debt repayments by booking a holiday to America. I'll go back to lurking.
Glad you're doing well though.

It's important to reward yourself and celebrate milestones! Good for you - 3 months!
£2300 on my overdraft but no interest - thank gawd. The interest on the CC is more than enough :mad:CC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14

Not much to report. All bills are paid so the money in my current account is just for food, travel & a wee bit of entertainment.
Good MSE news - My free Abel & Cole box arrives today! We signed up a month ago and i love getting them. Not sure if they count as thrifty BUT they have stopped me having to go to the dreaded supermarket so often.
Ooh also, I've decided to invest in the new Jamie Oliver book. The reviews look brilliant and even with me being more careful, food is still our biggest weakness.CC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14

I've fallen back into my old ways a bit this month
BUT I have hit the reset button & start afresh tomorrow...pay day!
Unfortunately, it's going to be an expensive month. My tooth is playing up again so I have a root canal (2nd appt) booked tomorrow. I'm with a private dentist so it's costing £700ish all in all meaning one tooth has cost me £1400! Luckily, I'm insured up to 80% of the cost so the whole thing will only actually cost me £140. Phew! NOT excited about the 2 hour appt ahead of me...
I also have to get my MOT done on Monday which can sometimes feel as nerve wracking as the dentist! THEN I need road tax!!
£££££!!
I'm going to have to stay focused and only spend when I NEED to, not WANT! And NOT use the blooming credit card.CC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14

Root canal down. Phew! Wasn't half as bad as I expected. Watching a DVD whilst it was happening helped. Jaw was sore all weekend so I just lounged about so a fairly cheap weekend apart from the £130 I need to contribute towards the treatment.
However, the garage just called. My old car has failed it's MOT and has some major problems. He said he's fixed it enough to pass & make it roadworthy (at a cost of £200) but I'm to prepare myself for it basically conking out in 6 months ish OR fork out for a new gearobx. So, I need to sort out a new car!
I'm hoping it'll cling on until my debt free date (currently May) and then my plan it either to buy a nearly new car or lease one. SO, I'm even more determined to bring that debt free date forward so I can get a car even sooner & not feel anxious driving it.
Time to fork out £70 on 6months of taxCC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14

CC payment for the month made and it's 56% paid off
And i'll be into the 3000s next month. Phew! Getting there at last!
With all these extra payments I've decided to up my CC monthly payments from £600 to £800. Meaning i'll be CC free in March - 5 months to go!
Oh & my lovely Ma, has offered to buy me a car & I can pay her back monthly. Going to hold off until CC is paid off then new(ish) car here I come!CC1 - [STRIKE]£8746[/STRIKE] £2801 71%LBM September 2012 - Current DFD Oct 14
