Morning all, Last week I purchased the talktalk wireless modem as recommended on this site. I followed the instructions to the letter but I am now left with no internet as there is a problem with my ADSL. I get error 680 no dial tone yet I can hear the tone when I pick up the phone. I am soooo frustrated at this because everything was fine before I decided to go wireless. I cant even get my other modem to work now ive taken it out. Any help from you teccies out there would be great.

It sounds like you are still trying to 'dial up a connection' as you presumably did with your previous USB modem set-up. Check Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections Tab to see if Never dial a connection is checked. Your wireless modem should connect and stay connected to your ISP even when you switch off your computer. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Is your computer fitted with an Ethernet LAN socket? if so, then it would be easier to connect to the router using the network cable it was supplied with, configure your router and then go wireless.0

Thanks for your replies. So Cledor should I not have the Ethernet plugged in then?? it doesnt show it on the instructions but I thought it should be. I may be a bit thick here is that why its called wireless??? Thanks Espresso i shall try that when I get home I will also check to see if my old dial up is enabled. if it is I shall disable it.0

You would be better making any changes to the wireless router set-up using the Ethernet cable otherwise you would break your wireless connection when the channel is changed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Yeah, I always configure routers with the wire, then activate the wireless and check coverage etc.
There was another thread a few days ago about using the TalkTalk routers, see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=462646 in case this is relevant.0 -
Well i am still without internet. Talktalk helpline advised me that the router I bought on ebuyer was only for use in europe. Basically they sold these to ebuyer on the condition that they didnt sell them over here. so I am sending it back.0

What is the make/model of this wireless router? In post #1 you mention a talktalk wireless modem. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

It's not really clear what your problem is, but you should try to establish an internet connection to your router before attempting to run on wireless. The safest way to do so is by using an Ethernet lead to connect your PC to the router, and to cofigure the router (login and adsl settings etc...) using the browser.
If there are issues with your TT connection then you'll find the forum on Thinkbroadband quite useful http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=talktalk

HI
The modem is the one which was featured in the 16th may email for £25 Quid. Talktalk 54G wireless router. the talktalk advisor tried to get me online by using the ethernet lead and configure that way but the settings page didnt display properly half of it was missing. we cleared all temp files, cookies, turned off pop up blocker etc but nothing happened. he then told me that ebuyer should not be selling this product in the uk. Dont know if he was fobbing me off or not.0 -
Seems that eBuyer have stopped selling it, don't know exact reason though. If you can't access the settings page try switching off your firewall.
Edit:- eBuyer are still selling it http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/1276790
