Hi I have Virgin Broadband and have just received the cheap Talk Talk Router and USB adapter but when I try to install the USB adapter it stops at the point where it tries to talk to Talk Talk and Talk Talk won't respond (obviously because I'm a Virgin customer so they don't recognise me). So I can't use the darned thing and I'm fed up
Can anybody help please?

I think Virgin is cable so an ADSL modem is no good. Try sending it back to Ebuyer.0

Are you on cable or BT/ADSL phone?
Did you buy this from a shop? If so, it has no need to talk to talk talk.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
No thanks but definitely BT/ADSL. Honestly, so near and yet so far it drives me mad!!!0

You are going to have to elaborate, which usb stick is it, what happens exactly when you install it.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

ok here goes ... it's the SNU5630NS/05 that comes with the router. I follow the installation destructions which tell you to plug the router into the microfilter (done), switch on the power (done), then run setup (done), then click on the wireless adapter icon and kick-off (done), then plug in adapter when prompted (done) ... then I get a message saying Talk Talk not responding and I'm stopped dead at that point and my only choice is abandon ship. Am actually wondering if I'm getting out onto the net or if I'm not getting as far as real refusal from TAlk TAlk, who I don't want to talk to anyway!0

Does the router have a wired connection you could plug in?
Are you getting these screens?

I assume that you have your modem / router connected to your computer and working with Virgin via the ethernet cable?
If yes, then you need to make sure via the Talk Talk interface that wireless is enabled, should work fine then.
I have one and mine works fine.0 -
Well after a long night, the whole day and about a million pounds in phone calls to Virgin (bless 'em they tried) and talktalk (I don't like them) I'm wireless and secure and my laptop can see me (fab:beer: ) but  I can't get onto the net!!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The latest is that my router is capped (or locked like a mobile) so can't get an IP address. I don't get screens like your link says albatross. My last ditch attempt is to try the wired option ... I'll let you know but just for anybody else who's thinking of it ... best of luck but it might not all go quite according to plan ... Thanks to all who've tried xxx0
