It's a loathsome country with ugly misogynistic men preening and leering and hassling tourists in equal measure.
In your opinion, that is......:cool:0 -

Do Greece instead - far nicer country with civilised people and better food.
Each to their own at all that!!!!!
We are going Turkey next week and cant wait
Nothing wrong with Greece or anywhere else, apart from that awful euro that means buying a fizzy drink costs you a small fortune.
OP the only thing the riots are doing in Turkey (with regards to tourists) is making our pound go further, the lira is very good at the moment.0 -

This is of course an attempt to wind us up, but may I point out to those not familiar with the area, that Greece and Turkey are very similar, however Turkey has better beaches, better archaeology. less crime against tourists, more friendly people and is cheaper. Greece is wonderful as well of course and you can get ham in Greece.

Well its up to the OP but until the foreign office tell tourists otherwise, Turkey is considered safe and no insurance company will pay out because the traveller didn't fancy it.

More journalists are imprisoned without trial in Turkey than anywhere else in the world.
Hundreds of demonstrators in the current wave of protests are also being incarcerated without charge.
Life is cheap in Turkey and human rights are even cheaper.
By all means enjoy your two weeks on a beach in Bodrum but remember you're contributing to a political system which treats its citizens worse than you would treat your dog.
Just saying.0 -

What has politics got to do with a holiday thread!
The thread is about whether it is safe to go to Turkey in view of the political demonstrations.
Political ? As in politics ?
Of course it is safe to visit Turkey but it's still a loathsome place that treats its citizens with contempt.0 -

If I restricted my travel to places where I agreed 100% with the government, I wouldn't go anywhere.
I wouldn't even live in UK either.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Not to mention being out of the Euro zone
Perhaps best to keep schtum
