What are they going to do, issue a European Arrest Warrant? Send Interpol to get you, or the CIA to rendition you? Come on be serious, there's sod all this bloke can do so let him waste his money on a fruitless legal bid.
Much easier

So there's some BS court somewhere in Euroland, excuse me if I don't exactly quake in my boots. Anyway they might make a judgement but it sounds like there's a million and one ways to delay and frustrate the procedure.
That's before we get onto enforcement which takes me back to the Interpol/CIA point.0 -

Why do you think the villa owner should be out of pocket, its not him who has broken the contract0 -

agree...and who is to say that the villa owner doesn't have family issues too (not that that's relevant, but who knows - may be they are counting on the income for one reason or another)...likelihood of enforcement shouldn't really be the issue here. I do feel for the OP's circumstances, it must be terrible...but the villa owner isn't at fault here either but some seem to be suggesting that it's OK for them to take the hit...I guess those would be happy to bear the burden if circumstances were reversed.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I think you're all missing the point... Which is that regardless of personal and moral reasons is the OP required to pay up? I think the answer is no. There is no cancellation policy and the balance is only due on arrival.0
