Fridge keeps freezing up

Fridge is probably just over a year old. And keeps freezing up at the back to the extent i have to chip away and defrost the whole back which is solid with ice about 6 inches thick. Keep having to do this every couple of weeks.

Thermometer shows fridge is in safe mode however out of dial of 0-7 we have to have it on 5-6 to get the safe mode.

It has now got to the stage where I am fed up with it, wasnt cheap to buy and having to take everything out and keep defrosting is getting on my nerves.

Any solutions please I do probably try to cram quite a lot of stuff in at times (not all the time) and i make sure it doesnt touch the back of the fridge but the cucumber in the salad try keeps freezing and you cannot use it when it has defrosted as goes soggy.

Thanks

Is it advertised as frost-free? There were some issues with the frost-free element on certain makes a while back? Have you tried setting the dial between 4-5 or is that too low to keep your food cool?

What model is it? Is it frost-free?

You can get dual digital fridge & freezer thermometers that work with the doors closed:

No need - the model number will be on a sticker inside the fridge or freezer. Usually just inside the door or in the vegetable compartment.
