I asked about welcome gifts for a friend's twins a while back. Slightly different scenario, that!!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Many years ago, I bought a hardback book of the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit tales and wrote on a nameplate that I placed in the front of the book so that the child knew why and who had given the gift. It seemed to go down well. Not sure how it would go down nowadays. Just a thought.
Love this idea too. Thank you.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I would also buy a hard back 'classic' book for each that they could read when they are older / have read to them and write on the inside cover who it's to, the occasion and your names. I wouldn't pay full price for the book but get them from 'The Book People' or 'The Works.'0

At my friends lo' s baptism, I took loads of photos duri ng the day and had them made up into a photobook, my friend loved it and it's a wonderful keepsake for the lo.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Lovely idea but only really any good if you're at the christening though, and we won't be!!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

I love the book idea. I remember having a hard back copy of Alice in Wonderland as a special gift as a child and later on a massive hard back copy of The Brothers Grim stories from an uncle. I really loved both of them.
I bought a friend's children ornaments from a jewellers, which were non-religious as they didn't have a christening. The girls got a princess clock and the boy got a really lovely Noah's Ark with all the animals. I've just realised Noah's Ark is technically religious! :eek:Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
I love the Noahs' Ark idea, my boys had one when they were small and spent hours and hours taking the little animals out, lining them up and putting them back in again, lovely idea, it was more of an ornament than a toy and we still have it, hoping to get it out for the grandchildren one day!0

It's religious though, which isn't what I want!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
My children aren't christened, but just wanted to add to the thread that my stepdad's family all 'do' christenings, even though they're not religious, and my stepdad gets exactly the same gift for each baby because there would be 'ructions' if he didn't.
I think the keepsake box that you initially bought is lovely. Some people don't seem to 'do' thankyous for gifts, and from what I remember from previous threads these inlaws of yours are a bit rude. I think I'd just send the same gift for each, and try to rise above the lack of thanks.
The idea of a book in which you write a message is nice though (and cheaper, lol!)52% tight0
