  • FPK congratulations on your exam pass lovie, what else will you have to do to get full citizenship here in the UK?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELEN have yourself a lovely day, it's mine on Monday and He Who Knows on Thursday, what a lot of January birthdays!!!

NUTTY glad mum is on the way to being sorted out, a carribean cruise, oh how amazing!!!!! and you so much deserve it pet, you work so hard for you and yours, I'm so pleased for you, Lyn xxx.
  • Morning all,

Lots to do today. House needs a clean and I'm behind on laundry.

Nutty, that sounds like a lovely holiday!:j

Mrs. LW, I'm not eligible for citizenship yet, I'm applying for permanent residency. After a second probationary period of that (I've just finished a probationary period on temporary settlement) I can apply for citizenship, so I've a ways to go yet! The main things we have to demonstrate are that we live together in a relationship and that we meet the financial requirements and will not be using any benefits. Its mostly the waiting that will get to me as it could take them 8-10 months to decide the application and I won't be able to travel in that time. Fortunately once I have settlement I don't have to apply for anything again unless I want to, citizenship is then optional so we can wait until I'm no longer a student etc. It also means we can take our time saving up for it and also save up for other things. It will be far less stressful. This is really the last difficult step of the journey!:D

Right, I've just finished my porridge so I think that means I need to attack that pile of laundry! We're supposed to be dividing up the chores so I think I need to work out how I'm going to make sure the bathroom isn't on my list.:rotfl:

Morning all, thankyou for the nice comments. Mum is partly funding my share of the trip, she needs someone to help her at times and it still gives her the freedom. My brother suggested a care home, this is not what my mum wants at all. So me and both DD have agreed to be carers of a sort, housework and shopping. Eldest DD gave her a nail trim and pedicure last night.
I hope my brother listens to my mum. She is still able bodied and just has these odd blips but they are trying to sort out the correct dose of medication. Sorry for moaning.x

    Take care all x

  • Hello everyone Haven't been here in a while so have lots to catch up on, but have missed this safe place, if you know what I mean. Very wet cold and grey outside and am missing being in my garden so much. On the other hand we are not having to cope with flooding where we are and I do feel for anyone who has suffered this. I need to count my blessings so shall give myself a good shake today. Keep warm everyone and safe xx Margaret

I need a shake too Marg, this weather is seriously getting to me. I think I've got creeping damp!
  • Our damp isn't creeping MAR it's dropping from a height in great big spots that go splosh when they hit the ground!!! I've just walked the hound and the ditches alongside the road on the lanes round here are brimming full of rainwater and there are great puddles in the fields and through the woods, I think we're nearly at saturation point. Yesterday I went into town on the bus and just at the bottom of our road on the main road was the first real flooding I've seen in 20 years with two houseowners frantically sweeping water off their front drives as the houses are set back from the road down a slight incline. Every car that drove through the flood water made a wave that washed up over the pavement and down the drives, poor people couldn't keep up with it. If it was me I'd invest in some sandbags because there's going to be a next time, guaranteed, Lyn xxx.

Just a quick heads up the aldi voucher will be in this thurdays mirror newspaper. its still £5 off a £40 shop and is valid for 7 days, so maybe use one this week and then one next. There will also be % off vouchers as well but no idea what they are.

Get this lists ready everyone !
