  • Shegar, those high energy drinks have a lot but they also contain a lot of sugar so I am sure you don't drink those, and chocolate has a very small amount, only about 5%.

Sorry FPK you beat me to it.

What a pain in the butt Sheila re your DH's carer. Grrrrrrr. Has she done that before? 2 hours oversleeping is a lot for a job. I am glad you eventually got to see the doc.
I used to be addicted to caffeine when I had a stressful job years ago. I felt awful when my next "fix" was due. I have cut down my caffeine considerably and it helped me. I don't mind the taste of decaf tea or coffee. I rarely drink alcohol now either... now if I could just sort out my eating habits. I am decluttering the last of the Xmas goodies, aided immensely by DH... then its the sheer awfulness of loosing weight.. great once it gone but not the process itself.

Off to brave the weather to collect kids.

Q please re slow cooker for a newbie (blush)
Have a big batch of spag bol type meat in the slow cooker, smells lovely. Then will convert some to chili -do I just add some kidney beans, chili powder to a batch of mince and bung it back in the slow cooker for a while?

sorry been AWOL for a while , but have been trying to read along.

    hugs to everyone.

sending positive thoughts , hugs and and virtual treats to those that need them

been a busy few weeks, almost glad to get back to our version of normal. my work hours have been moved to a brand new service about 25 mins drive from home. means I will be more unit based instead of community care, which I am actually looking forward to, no more lone working, it will be good to have a team there for back up and support day to day. I did my first shift there yesterday, 10 hours.. but that's my hours done for this week
.I was shattered, glad I had put the slow cooker on before leaving,
still waiting to hear back about CA, sent the form off beginning of December.

cold and drizzly here today, had a guy come round to price up for a new fence in the back garden, as the wind has won its battle. total cost £260... oh well , have that in the emergency savings,

DH is sleeping again now, he spends a lot of time sleeping, he is also have the growth site dressed, by me and the district nurse.
he also now has to take a small dose of oramorph in the morning to help with his cough and breathing.
but... we did manage to get to my BIL for his divorce party.. ( if you know his ex wife, you would understand) i made a chocolate fondue in my slow cooker for him using some the masses of chocolate we were given for Christmas and some frozen double cream. it was lush...

anyway. having a pj day today. just waiting to check the neigbours are out, before sneaking out in my dressing gown to do the meter readings, trying to do them once a month to keep on top of things.

also meal plan done to eat out of the freezer, did a top up shop of milk ect on sunday and I am planning to stay away from any shops untill next sunday. so wish me luck.

stay warm. stay safe, stay OS.
    xx CC

    Hello everyone :)

Do you mind if I sit in here and have a quiet sob please?

My tumble drier is making very strange noises and producing metal dust every time I use it. So I'm waiting for that to implode after asking DH for the past two months to look at it.
Then last week my washing machine started making crackling sounds and I looked at it today while it was on and can see what look like electrical sparks emitting from it.
Guess what DH is most worried about and spent the morning trying to fix???........A plate of cookies to the first person to say the internet into the conservatory as the pc isn't connecting to it.
It's just the straw that broke the camel's back at the moment. I'm not sleeping well, and because I had a nasty stomach bug before Christmas, my anti-depressants have only just started working properly again. I know that they are minor problems compared to what lots of people on here are facing, but I'm just not sure what else I can cope with.
It looks like the credit cards are going to take a hit unless I can find second hand ones.

Ok enough self pity from me. Time to put on my BGP and sort out dinner.

    Bye for now everyone xxxx

SDG I hope DH pulls his finger out. On my local Facebook selling site there is someone who sells reconditioned electrical items, might be worth a look to see if there is something near you?
I've just discovered that the extension lead to our chest freezer in the garage had come unplugged - no idea how long but could potentially be up to a week. Bread and stuff near the top is quite defrosted (though still cold) but joints I had near the bottom are still rock hard so I'm presuming they are OK. Not sure whether to risk chicken-y things that were near the top though. : ( I've pulled them out and will have a smell in a little while and see if I can bear cooking them for our dinner tonight. At least if I do have to throw stuff out it won't be more than £15 worth or so as it was all YS stuff. Well that's presuming everything underneath the draws was OK.
  • Oh SDG, big, big hugs!

I hope you can do something nice for yourself this evening--a hot bath or even just a few minutes to rub some nice cream into your hands and feet.

We recently bought a washing machine that was refurbished. I found a generic listing on ebay that directed me to call the company--it was a local man who refurbishes them all and just uses that as a shop front. They gave us a warranty, delivered and hooked it up and its been very reliable. Perhaps you can find something similar?

  • Posession, how annoying! Anything that is still frozen is fine. If it has defrosted, could you put it in the fridge until tomorrow and have a cooking day? Once its cooked it could safely go back in the freezer.x

SDG...Whatever you do dont use that washing machine until its fixed, its deadly for sure...........

About 8 years back where I use to live , a man dropped down dead with touching a washing that was also not working properly and he went to try to work on it...............Doesnt matter about throwing the useless thing out , better than getting electrocuted ............

Im sick of this wet , damp, cloudy weather, although now on the forecast its going to be sunny all day here tomorrow........:D....Sheila

Thanks Fairy. I didn't want to open it too long as I'd already opened it earlier (which is how I found the problem), so I just quickly pulled out what I could see was defrosted. I felt the joints that were on the top of the main body underneath the draws, and they were still frozen so I presume everything under them will be OK. Tomorrow I'll have a look and see what I missed that was on top. Am cooking some stuff tonight which smelt OK, but have sadly had to throw a big bag of my homemade gnocchi which only cost pennies but took ages to make!
