Hi all we are still doing well on our eating healthy and out of our freezer cupards .
I took Bella my dog to the vets today she's been spayed £155 OMG but it has to be done last year we only went to the caravan a handful of times becose she was in session twice .
She's not happy at all and just keeps standing still bless her
It's blowing a gale a raining heavily outside .keep safe everyone xxI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -

Hugs to ((((monnagran)))) and ((((kezlou)))) and anyone else in need. Gentle strokes to jem's doggie - ouch.
Woohoo to the sofas kidcat! What a great feeling to finally have the money saved to buy something and then even better get it for less in the sales.
Fuddle - would your car's interior light turned on whilst you pour a hot drink be enough light? If you pour the drink away from your lap towards the passenger side? Just a thought, the thermo cup would be safer.
My thermal mug leaks if it isn't set upright. If I use it I stand it in the driver's cup holder but worry it will tip if I take a corner too sharply or have to brake suddenly so only used on very local journeys. Anyone recommend a leak proof one or are they all the same?
Gammon advice please: I roasted a gammon (gorgeous btw) on New Year's Day and we have been eating it last 3 eves. I still have a fair chunk left and don't fancy a pie (boys won't eat it) I guess is it too late to freeze the remainder? I usually freeze some of a joint on the day it is cooked but just forgot to this time doh! I read somewhere that keeping in greaseproof keeps up to 2 weeks but ours is in a Tupperware (uncut).
Loads to do and in a cba mood. Out round a friend's this afternoon leaving DH to revise for a forthcoming exam. Right must look lively......

FUDDLE an apple and mincemeat crumble is lovely, and also a flapjack mix with a sandwich filling of mincemeat is nice too. Delia smith had a recipe for a mincemeat christmas cake, but I guess it's too soon after christmas for that. The other way mincemeat is nice is as the topping you put in the bottom of the pudding basin for a steamed pudding, Lyn xxx.0

Hello everyone.
I had a washout of Christmas and New Year as mostly in bed with nasty chest infection. The antibiotics finally worked but am still bit grotty and not up to doing much.:(
Am going to try and take down my few decorations this weekend but am basically busy trying to get organised properly for the year ahead. Hoping to get much more done if I plan and prepare properly.:D:D
We've been pretty lucky with the weather but have had spectacular views of wind and waves.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Morning All
SQ - I would use my senses - does it look and smell OK? does it feel slimey? If I thought I could still eat it, I would freeze it. But then I am a bit Old School when it comes to food, I know some people would throw it out.
Hope everyone is staying safe and warm, another big storm on the way
Sorry you are feeling rough Monna - get your feet up and have a nice rest!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Thank you so much for the mincemeat suggestions, really kind of you
I think I fancy a dollop at the bottom of a steamed pud! Excellent idea
it's on for tomorrow with custard.
Wondercollie 100 years? Shows how modern technlogy hampers I guess - the thought of an electricity cost associated with keeping my electric hob on low constantly... can you imagine?
monnagran it's not often you give in or admit you're failing health wise so I want to ignore all your callings and sit and rest. Even the best of us determined folk can burn out ok?
SQ I'd much prefer a ready made cup instead of pouring boiling water in the car. My interior light would give enough light I'm sure but with the lights, window demister heater and window wipers working hard my alternator is struggling at the moment. I'm tight as and don't at all like buying things when there's something that could work just as well but in this instance I would feel better if I had a thermos mug
I've a sausage and bean casserole in the SC to be ate with broccoli and mash this evening. I think a flapjack and custard is on the cards too. Weekend off and plan on doing very little. Looking forward to relaxing by candlelight this evening with a warm drink.0 -

Mincemeat muffins?
Mincemeat muffins
250g/9oz plain flour
3 level teaspoons baking powder
3 level tablespoons caster sugar
2 large eggs
Grated zest of 1 small orange
175ml/6fl oz milk
75g/3oz butter melted
12 teaspoons of mincemeat
salt
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas mark 6. Sift the flour and the baking powder into a large bowl, then stir in the sugar and half a teaspoon of salt. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, zest and milk. Stir the melted butter into the milk mixture, then pour this into the flour. Stir for a dozen or so strokes then stop. The mixture will be lumpy, and not all the flour will be stirred in, but no matter. The important thing is not to over-mix.
Spoon half the cake mixture into the cases, then add a teaspoon of mincemeat to each, then cover with the rest of the mixture. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until risen and golden. Leave them to settle for a couple of minutes before removing from their tin.Must use my stash up!0 -
Thanks Knitwitch. It's a shame the one I have isn't leakproof, it was a pressie from kids (bought by DH)
Fuddle the thermal mug sounds the way to go and an essential work expense. You can use it other times too.
Thanks Mrs C. It looks, smells and tastes fine so I have bunged it in the freezer and will make sure its ok on defrosting and will make a pie or something where it can be reheated well.
I am also of the use it rather than bin it if at all possible (taken me a long time to get to this point though) Have to say I draw the line at 100 year old stew!! I have half a jar of mince meat in the fridge so those recipes are great - thanks to posters.
