    evening toughies :)

Have managed to catch up after an extremely busy day - we did Legoland today and it was so busy, but we coped DS9 had a meltdown and OH followed suit! BUt we coped, the staff were great, the public not so, no idea what type of person thinks its a good idea to allow their young child to come right up to a family struggling to deal with a nine year old laying on the floor screaming and kicking, it defies logic to me.

BUt we survived, we have however decided to not go through with the original plan to do a second day there so I am now searching for a different activity for tomorrow.

Kezlou - am really pleased you are getting proper help for DS, :)

Oh, were you at Glastonbury too? :p

I'm back - did you see me on the telly? :rotfl:

It was fab and I want to go again. 5 days away from it all in the sunshine, fab music, fab food, fab company in DS (he's much better away from home, maybe we just have to keep taking him places for the next 4 years until he is human again :rotfl:), fab sleep (9 hours one night! and no alcohol involved neither), fab fab fab people - I didn't see any trouble, no one too drunk or otherwise intoxicated, just people of all ages enjoying themselves.

I have 15 pages to catch up with so may be some time!
I wanna be in the room where it happens

GREYQUEEN Just catching up again and before I read yours I was just remembering a friend who had another friends daughter getting divorced a very short time after she got married at huge cost and fuss. My friend said that it seemed the more that was spent on the wedding the shorter the marriage. I think that today people see the wedding as the be all and end all and don't think about the life after. Esther x

Well been an eventful evening for me. Just came back from a & e, I've badly sprained my ankle, pulled muscles and may have chipped a bone in my foot. Have to go back to the trauma clinic on wednesday to get checked out.

Luckily ds 2 is there on the same day so no mucking about.
Took them both to play with friends before heading to the hospital.

Vj mum the festival, were hoping to go next year.

I love your weddings, thats how I want mine if oh and myself ever get married.

    Morning everyone :j

kidcat - it's awful when other people do stupid things to cause even more stress. I used to hate people tutting loudly, in the end I had no problem with telling them what's what.

I am finding that as I get older my fuse with other people is getting shorter, especially when they are rude.

VJsmum - I've been waiting for your update, glad you enjoyed Glasto. Hope there were enough toilets :rotfl:

kezlou - all I can say is ouch! hope it doesn't take too long for you to recover.

Great wedding stories, I bet organising these were much less stressful than something that costs an arm and a leg. I think because there is such a big build up to these expensive weddings that once it's all over the 'happy couple' experience a slump and become a bit 'empty' as though they don't know what to do with themselves once they are actually married.

    Sad really.

VJ's Mum - glad you had a great time. Did you see The Stones?
Kezlou - sorry about your ankle. Hope you're being looked after.
Kidcat - sorry Legoland was traumatic. We were going to go last week as we had an Inset day but couldn't face it in the end. The children do want to visit the new water bit though some time.

DH is going back to work tomorrow. He's been lucky to have a good amount of paid sick leave but that's running out. He does seem to be a lot better so fingers crossed his anxiety doesn't rear up too much.
  • Morning Toughies, all this wedding talk is interesting. My youngest DD is as you know tieing the knot at the end of August and has been very sensible about choices for the big day. It has still come in at £5,000 ish and that is mostly for the venue and food for the 80 guests and family. She has been very industrious and hand made all the invitations, has hand made all the place markers, we are growing all the flowers for both table decorations and the bouquets, her dress came from a wedding room at Oxfam, the bridesmaids dresses were found in a sale and are beautiful coctail dresses that will be wearable again in real life. She has included in that figure the Ceileidh Band for the evening, all the drinks, the photographer, the registrar the transport, a new suit for her OH, ties for the groom, her dad and the ushers, many things. The hen do will be a morning at a Spa for pampering and then a picnic out in the park so not much outlay there. I daresay she could have done things more cheaply but the sad truth is that things cost a lot of money these days and you sometines have to make sacrifices for the day you want, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Exactly, Mrs L. We didn't want any of that (wedding dress, bridesmaids, ushers, photographer), and you should have the day you want and can afford. It sounds as if your DD is going to have exactly that, and I hope she has a wonderful day.
