Good to catch up on the news and most of it possitive. Kezlou, you met my friend:)Ok most items are a little bit more expensive than in a shop but they are a special treat and take a lot more preperation. Glad you liked it.

She has attends many markets/events across the North East and beyond. Three at the weekend alone and two or three this coming weekend too(Barnard Castle, Stewart Park and Stockton's Wellington Sq)

Looking for new items to add to the range, I keep suggesting some myself(ok its a while off)but lately I have been thinking Halloween/Christmas(food and drink)

If I am up to it, I hope to travel to Whitby, Richmond(just because I can)and its been years, The Proms on Saturday, street bands in Durham on Sunday...

All weather permitting of course. Glad that you got out over the weekend.

If passing by a Sainsbury's I may spring to a butter dish...I have most things these days both gadget wise and in kitchen wear. It is often plain I'll admit.

Debating whether to spend a little again(whilst able)once purchased they'll probably last me years...Aldi's have some good special buys on bedding at present so thought I might buy pillows and cases, quilts and fitted sheets.

    Great news on DS Kezlou.
Planting done, and the garden looks SO much nicer, plus it's a mainly edible garden now. Perhaps next year I shall try to get started a bit earlier and start some seeds off, if all this lot don't die.

I may try and grow vegetables etc...but with a SM on the doorstep and eating small amounts/being single, I suppose I have an excuse not to but there is something about seeing things grow and feeling you have accomplished something.

I suppose I could use some tubs or a raised bed or have one of those small portable greenhouses that you see.

    Sounds good Possession...

I'm old fashioned I know - but one thing I HATE to see is children being given semi-skimmed milk. There is no sense at all in that.
The Primal diet is going fine here, I don't feel hungry often at the best of times - the only thing I'm not happy about is the almond milk its bloody horrible lol. (but not as bad as soya or coconut!). I put in a wee glug of single cream to make it nicer.
I hope this summer is going to be decent, it looks ok so far, a world away from last year eh?

I don't have a problem with a child over 2 having semi skimmed milk, it's got a smidge more calcium than whole milk and very slightly fewer calories. My youngest wouldn't touch whole milk but will guzzle semi skimmed.....she still does now, I know when's going to have a growth spurt as she mainlines milk and sleeps for England.

Fluffy kitten now has an ear issue causing her balance to be off, she's walking around with her head sideways....bless her. It's part and parcel of her flu and should ease off fairly quickly. She wants to eat but can't quite cope with much at the moment, I spent an arm and leg on fresh fish and various tinned fish to tempt her with. She's managed some cods roe, a tiny bit of roast chicken and has been to the pond for 2 drinks (fresh clean water obviously isn't good enough).

Brought some bargain fabric a few weeks back to make into a beanbag for the living room....really lovely vintage stuff. By the time you add in the cost of a zip, a huge bag of filling balls and some stockingette for inside it's cost more than a shop brought one.....never mind, I had fun making it.

Kez - I'd want a gold butter dish for that price!

I love the smell of germoline too, we've always got a tube on the go. Never heard of it being used as a moisturiser before though.

Thank you for all the 'welcomes'. I tend to read the SHTF thread but have quickly become addicted to this one too. Mrs L, I will try harder to post :D

On leave this week, so dropped some bags off at the charity shop - but came away with three more items :o There are lots of things I should be doing but at the moment I don't seem to have my mojo - so I'm sitting here with a cup of tea enjoying a good read :D

My Aunty's wedding in the 60's was very much like the one described by MrsL. The wedding reception took place in the village hall across the road from the church. My Mum made the wedding cake and the family set up the wedding tea on trestle tables. 'Proper ham sandwiches' - I was very impressed (I was about 6 or 7 years old at the time).

Mum also made the bridesmaid dresses and I was under strict instructions not to get mine dirty. I think my Aunty made her own wedding dress. It was very 60's style and we all had our hair up in buns with a broad piece of ribbon round. No evening do - weddings were simply the ceremony and a tea to follow. The highlights were throwing the confetti, getting extra royal icing from the cake and watching the cans attached to the bumper bobbing down the road as the newly-wed couple drove away. :D

Alfsmum, you can get basic MP3 players for around £10. You can also probably buy the tracks for around 49p each, load them on for her and then show her how to use it. Not sure how she would feel about earphones, but most speakers can be connected to an MP3 player through the headphone jack. Just a thought.

All of this talk of cakes in top oven has made me brave enough to ask a question. This house has two wall inset ovens--a normal one on the bottom and a slightly smaller top oven. The top oven has a grill option and what seems to be a normal oven setting. I've actually been using it for normal cooking because it just seems to work so well. But honestly, there isn't a book and I think the make has been rubbed off---what exactly is the difference, and is one more efficient than the other? By my logic, the top oven is smaller so should cost less to heat up, but maybe I'm wrong?

FPK, thanks for MP3 suggestion, I will get my techie teenagers to see what they can find.:)

    Hi.
Going to catch up in a bit but I've had such a carp day so far.
After next to no sleep I came here to catch up and typed a long post only for it to disappear as I'd been timed out:mad:

Then oh was having probs with his mac and login to icloud etc so since he can't and won't use the phone I had to ring support. Now I know nowt about the mac and have a windows8 lappy. I have spent 2hrs on the phone as a go between and shortly into the call oh goes into shut down and gets frustrated and I am now calming him, trying to talk to the Apple guy who probably thinks we're not fit to use a mac and going round in circles. I feel mentally and emotionally exhausted. My oh just can't deal with stress, people or things he finds illogical. Now we are even worse because the guy at Apple seems to have created more probs and we can't access emails or send.
Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading, I've no one else to talk to.

Off for a coffee and hopefully return calm and composed. Havn't achieved much of what I needed to at all today.

I think the carer may need a carer at this rate. Going to cuddle a puddy cat, back soon.
