Thanks Lyn. That is probably what it is. I've used the bottom one when there are a number of things to go in. I'll have to experiment more fully. The not being a fan oven probably explains why I get on with it better as my first introduction to the fan oven was when I moved to the UK.0

Morning all,
MrsLurcherwalker and others, I have had a bad night as Rosie my hound had the runs during the night and woke me up whining to be let out at 1.15, 2.34.3.50 and finally at 5.22 am. She has now had 2 raw eggs and is fast asleep!
Germolene, love the smell and mum used it on us 5 children for everything from a graze to teenage spots! didn't do anything for my swollen knees at 13, though, turned out to be rheumatism!!
Sinc then i used it for my four, 3 of them boys, daily it seemed.Wish I'd had shares in the company! Also used it on the hounds and the pony.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone.
Its been a few days since I’ve last posted and seems I’ve lost touch with the thread.
Been manic here with helping brother & SIL moving, I think ive seen enough of cookers, sofa’s, bedding, beds, for a life time.
I’m dreading them ever moving again!
Today I have a list of “to do items” longer than me. Seems I’ve put my life on hold in order to help out family & its certainly caught up now. OH is so run down because he worked all over the weekend too plus he assisted my brother.
Early nights for us this week I think.
This week I had a few letters in regards to my debt repayments. This has taken a huge amount of pressure of me & OH now, as we’re not panicking every time the front door knocks.
I also received a letter back from Avon as they slapped a lovely default on my partners credit file which was completely incorrect, Now they’ve admitted they’ve made the error and their cancelling it, Does that require us to also write to the credit reference agencies and ask for removal?
Hopefully your all enjoying the sunshine, Remember its very rare and limited in this country peeps lol xFuture goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
Oh Poor Rosie, hope she's better now GRANDMASAM, I think it's the heat, we didn't have that but to say the lurcher was fragrant during the night probably says it all!!!
On the Germolene topic, does anyone remember TCP that panacea to all ills from a cut knee to a sore throat, I can still remember that horrible smell and dettol, which of course is an old friend but I remember it well from medical checks at school involving the Nurse, when the throat inspections were all done with the same spatula, just dunked into a tumbler full of dettol between children, and going back even further to infant school (I know, and yes I was there with Mr.Noah before the last wet season!) getting a spoonful of malt and cod liver oil all in a line, all from the same jar and ALL using the same unwashed spoon!!!!!
KITTIEJ I didn't go to many weddings when I was younger, but I remember my cousins wedding, I must have been 12 so round about 1960 and after the church service and the photos, we walked to the village hall where we had what amounts to a Sunday tea set out on massive trestle tables with sandwiches, finger rolls, sausage rolls, sausages on sticks, slices of cake, scones, shortbread biscuits that type of thing, we all sat round the big tables and there was tea to drink and squash for the children. The cutting of the cake was the big ceremonial moment and there was some alcoholic Fizz or a glass of sherry to toast the happy couple. Then they went off to get changed and we had the 'Going Away' where we all went to see them off in the car decorated with old tins and boots tied to the back bumper, and the bride threw her bouquet over her shoulder in old traditional style. There was then a break and in the evening there was a small dance band and grown ups dancing but no food and you had to buy drinks from the bar if you wanted them. It all finished by about 10 o'clock and was a lovely thing I remember with pleasure, no fuss, no ostentation and happy times for all, Cheers Lyn xxx.
PX87 well done on getting them moved in, I'll bet you're all exhausted from that, but you are a smashing family for rallying round and making it happen for them, they are lucky kids and you're all BRILLIANT!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
I cook meat in the slow cooker, let it cool, put in fridge overnight and then it slices up much better and I reheat in gravy in microwave if we want it hot. Could you do a stew or something before you go that you could reheat? Maybe you could make him some homemade ready meals too if time and money are ok for that. If not for this time then next time. I haven't read past your post so don't know if you have other answers yet but I just put a chicken in the slow cooker with a little water and leave for a few hours or over night. Again, it will cut much better if put in the fridge. HTH Esther xSecond purse £101/100

I love Germolene
. I can remember it in a little round flat tin, and it was much pinker (what OH calls disparagingly 'ointment colour') and stickier than it is now. But I find it is great for sore skin and if I put it on before bed it's usually all better by morning.
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Hi all!
Been a while since i was on, finally caught up last night.
Blurgh to TCP i hate the stuff, my dad used to put it on me all the time. I was a clumsy child so always ended up hurting myself.
Welcome to kittiej, parsnip and pink thrift
Sounds like everyone's having sleepless nights.
Princess great news repagarding your brother, aw bet they can't wait, new home, new future. You did really well hun
Pops - we tried the ginger cinder toffee from your friend on saturday it was absolutely gorgeous. Lets just say we will buying it from her again.
I tried the atkins diet, i didn't last very long as i craved potatoes and rice. I don't eat as much wheat now as i'm allergic to it, but i do adore home made bread.
The primal diet sounds good but i don't think i could last on it.
Fuddle - Both of my boys are seriously underweight, they rarely eat sweets or cakes. My youngest eats little and often. What i say to both of my boys is you can eat as much savoury as you want. they eat huge chunks of cheese, drink full fat milk and sliced meat. This is inbetween they main meals.
Another option could be to sepatate the food, so say for example you make spag bol, i would place the pasta in a dish on its own. Sauce on its own, bread on a plate and salad in dish iwth a separate salad dressing if needed. Now when i do this ds2 eats tons and demolishes his lunch. I think because he's controlling the portions himself he feels much more grown up and less pressure to eat a stacked up plate, if you know what i mean. Now i tend to do with the majority of our meals, more washing up but at least they eaten.
Sorry if that has offended you.
Oh i bought a butter dish today for 32.50 out of sainsbugs, thanks for the link whoever posted it!DS2 will be happy when he sees it
Been a hectic weekend,DS1 was away with the school kayaking, he came back on Sunday and absolutely loved it! His teacher was really nice too.
OH went caving so i entertained his friends wife, i was worried about it as i thought what i am going to do with her 14 hours
In the end we looked around vintage shops, participated in the armed forces day events, which ds2 loved. DS2 was spoilt as per usual by our friend, looking in all the toy shops and things. After that DS2 wanted to her to the tea shop, which she liked and came back here and played with ds2 and watched films. It was really good.
Sunday couldn't ds2 do anything as he was scared we would miss ds1, poor mite missed him so much he took his older brothers duvet into his bedroom and slept on it.
Had more meetings today, went in to get ds1 some help at school and its all positive. So fingers crossed september comes and all will be ready for him, all sorted for year 9. The head of learning support was fantastic and instantly knew where i was coming from. So going to see about a confidence boosting course for him. I told her about breaking down and crying with the stress and she said straight away right thats not good. This isn't good for his mental health, i'm going to make sure he has a mentor ready for him and contact the educational psychologist.
I was shocked as this is the first time i've contacted learning support about dyslexia assessments. She even admitted herself that right children are often overlooked but she said she has been noticing he daydreams a lot and has a lot of problems with socialising. She asked if autism was in the family and when i said yes. He goes to a group on Fridays with his younger brother and that it is designed for people on the spectrum. She said perfect take him to that it will really help him. Shes going to try social stories with him to!
So shocked and feeling positive abut it all.
sorry been rambling on.:o0 -
