Fuddle, you can buy stuff to blacken your hob, I think I got it from Wilkinsons, its a little tube, very simple to use and not smelly - suprisingly. Maybe they have it on fleabay.

Of course you shouldnt leave us, goodness we all want to hear how you get on in your new life. We dont discuss on here our incomes as its irrelevant, what we discuss is how to get through the day and give support where needed.

Just been looking after DGs as Daddy was on a training course and Mummy was doing her last late during the week. Morrisons finally relented and changed her to another department, not what she wanted but she needs and wants to work. Dgs now says grandma in a very posh voice and its the best word I have ever heard. 3 1/2 and finally having short conversations - I am blessed :D

Also great news Oh's cancer reading today was very low but the wonderful kind specialist is keeping a very close eye due to other treatment he is having which can make it grow. If it grows in 3 months they will start immeadiate treatment or surgery as they wont let it get to far as is isnt well enough to cope due to his other problems. I have never seen a specialist so happy, he couldnt wait to tell us, rare man I think.

Putting your children to bed when they are tired does not make you a bad mother!

I've never tried tablet but I do make gorgeous roasties.

Ginny - great news on the cancer reading being so low - some consultants are worth their weigh in gold, others don't deserve their jobs.

    Is DGS excited for Christmas?

Thanks guys, we dont know what the next reading will be but we can relax a little and the main things is we are being well looked after and most importantly listened to.

Pooky, Dgs doesnt understand Christmas but totally gets advent calendars :rotfl: We are spreading out his gifts so the day isnt too much for him. When he finishes school for the hols he will get his easel and paints and his patchwork quilt will be going there this week. We think he will understand it better next year but dont do stress so will happily wait and see.

As news goes ginny that's up there with the best if them eh? Mr Ginny will be watched so closely and I can imagine that professional eye will be almost as reassuring as the low result.

Just catching up on super scrimpers. Thrilled at making bird cake with oats and lard shoved in a pine cone then rolled in seeds. Perfect for our gift back to nature :) I just need to source some cheapy bird seed now.

When I the wilkos round here I will look for the hob cleaner - thank you! I need more astonish oven cleaner too actually.

Mrs LW: Thank you, thank you, thank you! When I tell people that I sprinkle my roasties with semolina they look at me as though I am mad, closely following the incredulous stare with, "What's semolina?"

Fuddle: Not all situations needing support is financial. Sometimes you need someone to rant with, someone to encourage you, someone to weep with you, or, in my case, someone to listen to your daft stories. Don't you dare to wander off, we'll come looking for you if you do.

Ginny: Such good news. Fingers crossed that the good times continue.

Well, 70 people fed a three course meal with coffee and mince pies to follow, and they all left smiling. We volunteers then stripped the tables of decs, washed up copious amounts of crockery, cutlery and cooking pans. Cleaned and tidied and limped home to rest our aching bones.

I got home to find all the doors open and everything gone.
Who would do that to someone's Advent Calendar?
