OMG, did you have those nylon, psychedelic sofa/chair covers? Our cat scratched them to bits, just by climbing on them. This was in 76/77.
We had those (we were in BAOR most of the time). And the Formica-topped dressing tables with horrible metal handles....
The Formica was exactly the same as the stuff on the backs of the bus seats in my home town!0 -

afternoon all:)
shegar now you can chill and have some well earned rest
well ds2 is still off, he really scared me over the weekend, his joints locked and he couldn't move.So as he was coughing he nearly choked on his own vomit.
Really scary to say the least.
I didn't go to camhs, my dad came over and there we were sat waiting for his boss to arrive with the taxi and guess what never turned up.So i phoned and rearranged to go our original day.
so instead we spent a couple of hours together just me, dad and ds2 playing on the wii and sat drinking cuppas and chatting. It was really nice.
Didn't go to the coffee morning, i did say i couldn't make it with ds2 being ill and camhs, only two people were there. So the other person was fine.
Just have a lump of beef slow cooking in the oven, we have a plan of slicing the meat for sandwiches.Spent a fortune in asda and the deli is none existent, all pre packaged nonsense. Not impressed.
but we now have 3 lots of persil non-bio liquid so will last us till next year , said 75 washes so 3 bottles for £10. I stopped sing powder as it kept blocking the pipes up. Instead started using the liquid as so far so good. Never used the liquid tabs though, so can't say what they like.0 -
Shegar,
I really feel for you, the decisions you have had to make must be overwhelming. Make this week count for you, just rest and eat and of course keep in touch with everybody here. I feel sometimes that those people who really need help just aren't heard, they obviously don't shout loud enough or are like you and many others and just soldier on with the care of your loved ones, it almost makes me feel ashamed to be part of "society". I just wish that I could help out in some small way. If we all did that wouldn't the world be a different place, although of course we would need to get rid of TPTB. Sorry all for the rant but this really does upset me.
Fuddle and family,
So glad the move went well, hope you can get the girls' school sorted soon. If I know you it will soon be done and dusted. Keep plodding on and you will soon have everything just how you want it.

I agree, the decisions Shegar has to make are so difficult, and yet the people who should be helping, make it harder. Thoughts are with you Shegar, hope you can rest a bit this week and that the social worker you have to speak to is not only available but very helpful and supportive. :A0 -
Excuse me for shouting, but AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I've lost my sapphire ring
It's a heirloom from DH's family and irreplaceable. I got given it by DPIL on our 10th wedding anniversary when it was clear that I was sticking around.
I can't even remember the last time I wore it as I'm so scared of losing it and it's a bit too tight now. So I have no idea how long it could have been missing. It's only when I went into the jewellery box I thought it was in this morning that I realised it was missing. I've gone through all the boxes and my handbags and anywhere else I normally put jewellery when I take it off and there is no sign of it. I've phoned DH and got him to calm me down a bit and am trying not to panic. I'm waiting for DH to get home to help me look. I am putting off calling my DPIL to see if I have lost it there as I don't want them to know it's gone.0 -
SDG is everything else there that should be? is it covered under your house contents insurance policy? would you be able to replace it if it is lost?0
-
Hi MrsLw,
Everything else is where it should be, but I could have lost it outside the house. Yes it is insured under the contents cover, but probably not it's current replacement value as it was valued when I got it. I can get another ring, but it's the family connection that cannot be replaced. DH's great grandmother gave it to DFIL on his wedding day so DMIL could wear it. It has been in the family for many generations.0 -
Do you have a photo of it? would it be possible to have it remade? I know it wouldn't be the same but it would still mean something to the family if you could. There isn't the likelihood that it's been borrowed by anyone and just not replaced in its normal place is there?0
