Morning all
Stilty - hope mini-stilts are on the mend soon, mine were ok with the pox, it passed by relatively easily.
Nutty - glad to hear Dd is feeling better, bit of a worry for you all to have had her readmitted.
Kidkat - didn't read last nights post but hope DD is ok.
It was cold here last night but after a fire in the evening and my new very fluffy onsie on until bed time it was a relief to strip off and get into a cold bed. Ended up with 4 out of 5 cats on the bed during the night!
All the housework is done and I'm just having a quick cuppa before getting DH up, he's full of cold and needed a lie in. Need to head out for some hot chocolate as we've run out!!!! DDs can't cope without their nightly hotty-choccy. Could have sworn there was another pack in the larder."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all
I deleted a bit too Kidcat - hope all is going as well as can be lovey - left the bit about we're all gonna nag you though!
Well DD has woken up with the grand total of 1 spot so she is at home too. DS has lots more but seems fine in himself - he did have kids piriton when we went to bed last night as he was awake and wiggly and he ended up sleeping all night in bed with us as he was just snuggled in so beautifully didn't have the heart to move him which does have the downside that I didn't sleep so great as he may be only a small boy, but he can't half take up a lot of bed!!
Fingers crossed that they both sail through, but stocked up with aqueous calamine lotion and kids piriton (and chemist is at the end of the road if we need more) and got loads of bicarb in as I make my own bath bombs when I have time so will try that if need be - trouble would be that I would have to spend half the day in the bath too as DD won't get in the bath on her own and DS isn't safe in the bath on his own as he climbs!!
nutty - hope DD is ok and gets to come home soon, it all sounds promising.
Hope everyone else is ok too - hugs X
ETA: He seems to be enjoying the diet gailey although he was more than a little put out when he saw how few oven chips he was allowed!! Have to say they are all good tasty recipes so far although the restriction of following the recipe to the letter so as not to alter the calorie count is chaffing a bit!0 -
It's gone dark grey and started to snow here and I'm getting into xmas mode. So far my mind has gone to roulade and passionfruit ice cream and stopped
:D
The RV thinks that because we're old we don't need a xmas. No tree or decorations or surprises to unwrap on the day. I'm not big on xmas - much prefer New year - but I think you need a festive break in the depths of winter to keep you sane. But then I find myself doing things and buying things and get nothing back, and then feel annoyed. But will probably do it anyway just for my own satisfaction.0 -
Buy yourself presents Mar...0

MAR I reckon we need christmas more than ever at our age, we're supposed to be in our second childhood after all aren't we?0
-
Mardatha - if you order stuff now for yourself - if you are anything like me you will have forgotten what it is by Christmas!!
I agree MrsLW - I am more "into" Christmas in the past two years than ever before, I love dressing the house and making a fuss.
Nutty - good news that DD is feeling better
Gailey - I am sorry, you have probably said before but why is your daughter at a school so far away? Is there no possibility of transport being laid on or bus passes provided? It seems ridiculous that you have to walk for so long each day and would free so much time if you didnt need to do so much walking.
I am feeling a little better today, came home after school runs and managed to get one set of curtains in the machine and out the sink in soak before sitting down. Which is a definite improvement0 -
Mar I should just buy yourself something totally indulgent and unwrap that! Grumpy RV.
Hope Miss Nutty is feeling better, and the Kidcat family too. And Gailey, eat!
Along with work I am currently selling everything we can, and am quite pleased with how it's going on our local Facebook selling spot. Some of it is DD's toys so I will pass on a contribution to her as they were likely xmas and birthday pressies.
I need to make a xmas cake for my parents but I just can't work up the energy, and the only alcohol we have is a mini bottle of port. Have only ever used brandy but would port work do you reckon? Or shall I just stick to orange juice? I won't buy brandy as we don't use alcohol any more.0 -
Possession I would guess the port would be ok just taste different is all.
Totally forgot someone asked about Ike@ trees yesterday, they have a variance of sizes last year ranging from 5 foot to 8 foot, to get larger ones you need to be there early, our store sold out of the large ones really quickly.0 -

Shes 1.2miles away out of catchment so lucky she got on on id year admission started after october half term as was doing badly and not happy at old school.
Old school with traffic could take 20mins walk.
most of our route cycle path.and by myself can do in 30mins with kids and dawdling preschoolers can take up to an hour. yesterday we speed walked home and took 45mins. we going to have to move next year so aim is to move closer plus been doing driving lessons so its not forever and a fab school we all been happier since we moved just the worry that her sister wont get in need to get school admissions for in by jan 15th so thats playing on my mind and worrying me.
Sounds daft but was such a weight off my mind when we moved even now i walk up school path it makes me smile I adore the school reminds me of how schools used to be they all super primaries round my way. Dd1 school is victorian, just 5classes for entire primary and 130kids in total where everyone knows everyone and everyone mingles no cliques.
The kids are quite good they used to walking i take stroller and scooters its just when weathers crap rainy or very cold that its bit pants.
Have no regrets its worth the effort the teachers and the parents much nicer . A less showy school than the last one and the smallest in the area so shes getting lots of one to one and extra help.
Like I say I have eaten quite well toady with satsuma, toast and biscuits will try eat small meal later. we need to go out later when eldest gets back from party.
Its been raining here this morning so been nice to not leave house. we don't have to go far today.plus think walking keeps me fit.
been browsing and adding cheap jackets to ebay watch list as not being prepared stresses e as freinds keep posting links to worst winter ever on fb and leading e to believe a blizzard is on its way.
Anyone else get annoyed with coat shopping? they either waterproof or warm and if they do both they rarly very stylish maybe im being too flipping fussy.
Need to go cobblers get 2 pairs boots reheeled one are sheepskin lined.
I do have decent wellies as brought the in july someone had worn them to glastonbury once paid £18 they tall bright red was birthday pressie from hubby and they cost whopping £70 new so people at school must think we have more money than sense but at school as its village green crap pavements everyone wears wellies at school its the norm.
Anyone know where can buy some reasonably priced wellie socks?pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:
Pay off as much as I can 2011 £15008.02/£15,000:j
new grocery challenge £200/£250 feb
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON:D,Onwards and upward2013:)0 -
I've seen Welly socks in our local 99pennies shop.....didn't pay much attention to them though.
As for coats, have a look on the sports direct website, they have some good deals sometimes. I have a couple of regatta coats that whilst not thick, are wind and rain proof and I can layer up underneath. They wash up well.
Went out for hot choccy powder and caustic soda and spent £92! It's all food stuffs in varying forms, mostly tins and packs on offer and I did manage to get parsnips in the YS section for 30p a kilo......I got 6 kilosguess what I'll be peeling and chopping this afternoon!
