hi everyone, fuddle well done in helping your mum. Good luck with moving home too.

Today we went to town, popped into primark to exchange a dress that had shrunk. went into morrisons for a cuppa, and some low life stole my primark bag with the dress in it. It was only a £5 dress but its the principle of the thing. To say im sad is an understatement.

OH took me into mr t and bought me a knitted jumper dress, but its not the same :-(

Off for a quick tidy x

Just had a chat to OH about a freezer and he's having none of it.
So i suggested a drier and shockingly he said oh thats a great idea!
so just wondering what kind would anyone suggest. Is it worth it?

We have tiny radiators which take an age to dry things and no where to really hang things to air so just thinking of all possibilities.
His reasoning is i'd rather pay for things to be dry and eat freshly cooked worth and use the electric for that. I can see his reasoning.

Went to MIL yesterday, ended up watching planet earth, love that series. The camera work is amazing.
I had to tell her a few times about being horrid to ds2. After three times i threatened her that if she carried picking on ds2 while he was playing nicely and quietly with his dinosaurs we would be leaving.
Let me explain a little, i would to know if was being unreasonable about the whole thing. Don't worry i won't fly off the handle or anything like that. Its just being consious over my actions especially recently on here, just to get another perspective, if thats okay :o

ds2 was sat in between my legs on the rug, i was sat on a wooden chair with my book on the table. He was say using about 30cm of space and didn't move from his square. I was his cave and my legs were the edges of it. He had his dinosaurs in his hands and was playing fighting with them, pretending to much leave s(trees where my legs) and things. He didn't make any loud noises, could hear him, apart form when he was laughing. MIL dog kept coming into the room, walking two metres over to us and growling then walking away. The third time the dog ran over growling very loudly and went o bit ds2. I then told the dog off and he ran to MIL, MIL then shouted at ds2 called him a naughty boy and a monster. I responded by saying ds2 hasn't done anything wrong, he hasn't chased or threatened the dog in any way. Next time we come round take the dog out the room, or we won't be visiting again. The dog is your responsibility not ours and your grandsons safety should be your main priority, sort it out.

I mainly said this because she has four grandchildren aged 13, 9, 3 and 12 months. I scared against the dog attacked the youngsters and would have to be put down. I mean its not the dogs fault, its MIL's and the poor thing just hasn't been trained properly. He's a lovely little thing to, her other dog is fine and just laid down next to us whenever ds2 is playing.

What do you all think, was i overreacting? x

  • Kez, you did absolutely nothing wrong. We have a very loving and soft-natured Labrador who is as daft as a brush. However, when my OH's daughter visits with her little one (he is 18 months), we always shut the dog in the other room. I would NEVER take any chance where young children and dogs are concerned - if the baby pulled the dog's tail or ears and the dog snapped, I'd never forgive myself.

Don't beat yourself up - your son's safety and wellbeing is top priority.

The dog was uncomfortable. For the dogs own wellbeing I would have removed s/he into an area where s/he felt safe and secure.

I think it is always the responsibility of the owner to protect and care for the dog. If an owner is as perceptive as s/he should be (as part of the caring and responsible role) them the dog wouldn't be exposed to situations where the dog feels the need to react.

Kezlou, prompt action is better than dealing with the result of a dog bite. Its much easier to lock the dog elsewhere then everyone is safe.

Made a leek, turkey and pasta bake with a very cheap ys packet mix and it was gorgeous and made early this morning meant I had a day with no chores which I certainly needed. I have a list as long as my arm for tomorrow so need to get organised, luckily Oh is spending the day at his friends again so I should get it all done. If I can find the curtain hooks I put down the other day I will be laughing...wanders off to check the fridge.....
