Interesting link wonder, thanks.
I need some parsnip inspiration, they were selling them off in Mr As today, loose ones had been bagged up and were 30p a KG as they're slightly past their best.
I picked up a few bags so I thought I'd make up a couple of batches of mixed root veg mash, get some prepped and part roasted and frozen ready for quick roasts.....I was hoping for something's soupy too? Anyone have any favourite recipes for me?"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
I would love to know how to make that mash turnip with potatoes mix that they sell in tesco. Mine comes out wet and horrible.0

Have you tried that second one? Do the lentils cook through?

My eyeball hurts today, not the one that popped, the other one, but in the same place IYSWIM. Think I may refuse that test another time
It was a glaucoma test...anyone else had problems with that?
Kate
Katie I have glaucoma and I have regular field tests to see how it's progressing. Fortunately it seems pretty stable at present - in fact I've even got my driving licence back without restrictions woohoo! It IS disconcerting the first time you do it and because you keep staring at the fixed point of light your eyes feel quite dry and sore for a few minutes but you would be surprised how quickly you get totally used to it. You've got a good optician there - not all opticians are set up to do field tests - so PLEASE don't refuse the test. You wouldn't know you had glaucoma until about half the optic nerve cells were dead and then it's too late to do anything about it, whereas with an early diagnosis you would be able to get treatment to stop the progressionIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Oooh parsnip is my absolute fave for soups. I've tried the various spiced ones, but honestly for me it's such a lovely flavour that a simple creamy parsnip soup can't be beaten. I do admit to adding just a tiny bit of nutmeg, but I think strong spices or curry spoils it.
I don't follow a recipe so it's slightly different every time but the ingredients are four (edit: large!) parsnips, a couple of sticks of celery, a large potato and a large onion (sweated in a couple of tbsps of olilve oil) with vegetable stock. I do mine in a pressure cooker, then stick blend it and add cream and seasonings.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

It's the other gadget that seems to have done the damage? He gave me drops to numb my eyes, and then used something that looked like one of those things doctors look in your ears with, that had a tip? My left eye is really quite sore today, but no visible damage. I think he said it was the pressure test?
