Hi MOLLY how's Little Miss Molly doing at uni? is she settling in now and starting to find her feet? Hope she's feeling a lot happier and as a consequence so are you. My little grandson to be now has his very own name and he is Ezra Peter Oskar and is 21 weeks big now so only another 19 to go, I'm so excited, doesn't show does it? Hope you and dad are feeling better, love Lyn xxx and Docky sends a slurp for both the puppies xxx.

Miss Molly is doing ok. She came home this weekend for doggy cuddles but is now going to do a long stretch. She has lovely flat mates and they are sharing cooking - my OS ways have rubbed off on her as she has got them organised with cooking and freezing leftovers. One of her flatmates was salivating at Amy's sausages and mash so she shared it. It made me think what these youngsters eat at home and skills they learn?

Molly is here with me keeping me company and Pops is snoring on the landing - I can hear her from here.

Glad your lentil has a name - very fine name indeed. Thank you for asking about me and hope you are all doing well too.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • just popping in to tell anyone thats interested,

  • I like the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher, Harry is a wizard and PI in Chicago, they are funny but a bit gory.

I'm watching the TV seires at the mo on Pick.

Hummmm, what's it saying about me in that I'v read the Macaffrie offering's,Eddings offering's, Harrison's[think I feel in love with Jim Degris at 11] Asimov, and most of the other si-fi/fantisy auther's, and prefer to read our James Herrbet horrer than Stephen Kings[find his all the same nowaday's] and I love reading real life stuff.

At the mo I'm reading a Clive Cusstler, but then I'v got a Charlaine Harris lined up:)

Fuddle, glad you've got DH's offer in writing, a little bonus can't be bad either! :D

Been working again today, tomorrow as well, then one more date in other job and after that I'll be a real SAHM and occasional helper to mum, who's recently been diagnosed with dementia. Sounds silly, I know, to some people that I'm giving up work when so many are desperate for a job, but this is the best thing for us. Just having worked much of the last week has made me panicky and stressed for various reasons, so I know I was right to bow out. The littlies, DH, adult DS and mum need me more than any job, and (for a change!) I'm making a decision and standing my ground! :rotfl:

MOLLY good news about Miss Molly, it's the first little step to independence isn't it? I was amazed when mine went to uni, they both opted for self catering accommodation and were amazed that the others in the flat couldn't even boil an egg!!! The first christmas there DD1 did a christmas dinner for 12 with all the trimmings and the others were blown away by it, she ended up teaching basic cookery skills to all of them, even taught them how to make bread and chutney/jam, DD2 was in self catering which only had toasters and a microwave in the kitchen not worth paying for in our opinion but so much better than refectory food. She's a good little cook anyway and fared much better when she went into a shared house in the second and subsequent years. I hope Miss Molly flys on her strong and able wings and has a wonderful time at uni and that her Mum gets used to the space in the house and stops being worried and sad very soon! We're fine thank you for asking, we poddle along in our own way and don't do anything exciting by other folks standards, but we're oh so content and lack for nothing and as long as we can laugh at each other and with each other consider ourselves as rich as Midas!!! Look after you, Love Lyn xxx.

Hi everyone, sorry been a bit busy the last few days. Friday we attended a wedding, very old style it was too. Flowers in coffee jars tied with ribbon, t light candles on the tables with small pearls around them. There was also bunting made of brown paper. A friend took the photos and a family member drove them to the ceremony. Was lovely weather too.

Mum and DD had a great time on the cruise, it was rather emotional as mum and dad had been on the same ship previously. Lots of happy memories but it made her cry a bit too. DD was on hand and made sure her nan was ok, gave her a cup of tea and big hug. The crew praised her for being so nice to the other people on the table, making sure they were ok too. My mum said she was very proud of her.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of moving out friend, he is a single dad - one child lives with him the other with the mum. It was the childrens choice tho. I spent 6 hours cleaning - what is it with men and their lack of cleaning. Their was mould on the window, and floor best not describe that. Anyway I cleaned it all, and he should fingers crossed get all the deposit back this week. As a thank you he is taking us for sunday lunch. OH spent the day moving boxes and everything else from the house out.

Today we have had a relaxing day, we both have a day off work. I am back wed until Saturday. Update :- finally said collegue has been reprimanded, mite have something to do with us all refusing to do any overtime. They are doing an official meeting next week. To say we are feeling better...... I still have my second one to attend to.

Well I am going to have 5 mins nap. Lots to read up on. take care everyone x

I've finished making cake, just got some bits and pieces, frosting, fruit puree and my savoury stuff to do now.

Been hopping on and off FB and one of the Staffie Rescues DD is involved with has put up a picture of a lovely grey round the muzzle middle aged staffie boy who is due to be PTS tomorrow if they can't find a place for him in a rescue (presume the dog wardens have him?) and I've sat and cried my eyes out :( It's so, so, so bloody unfair, you've only got to take one look at him to know that he's going to be no trouble at all, and I'll wager he's been dumped/lost because someone can't afford to keep him anymore or they've died, he's been neutered, he's chipped etc, well looked after. All of the rescues are HEAVING at the moment with dogs who have been given up because people have lost their homes and can't take the dogs with them. He's local too, which just seems to make it even sadder. If mine would tolerate another dog in the house, I'd be on my way to get him by now! :( Poor Alf :(

Fuddle, thats great news, am looking forward to following your adventures when you move x

Cheapskate, I hope you enjoy your new life as a Sahm, Im sure you will not regret a minute of it, I certainly dont reget giving up work to look after hubby. :T

Monnagran, what a wonderful summing up of Rev's success and the sheer stupidity of moving her on!

Mrs Lw loving the names for lentil, however from now on and ever more I will think of him as Lentil :D

Just been for a meander round a beautiful up market shopping street a few miles from home. Omg how the other half live, they even have a waitrose unfortunately they didnt invest in public loo's so we can not stay long :o There are a few great independant charity shops which are far better than the ones I worked for and some real bargains to be had. I got a beautiful Ravenhead bowl to do a Christmas display in for £3 and a new square picture frame for an embroidery - square ones are hard to find. Went in the garden centre (to use the loo- tmi) and had a peep at the Chrimbo decorations which they were just putting out. Not much couldnt be made at home for pennies but noticed owls are still featuring strongly. quite a pleasant couple of hours and didnt break the bank.
Clearing the junk to travel light
    Saving every single penny.
    I will get my caravan
  • Hello everyone. I've been MIA for a few days as time totally taken up with preparing Harvest Festival yesterday. Am shattered now.

In relation to reading and books, I am an avid reader and my house is overflowing with books. Keep saying I must give some away but find it difficult. My favourite authors are Anne McCaffrey (I'm not keen on the Pern books with her son either), David Eddings, Terry Pratchett and Piers Anthony (especially the Xanth books which are hilarious, but the earliest ones are the best). You may be able to tell that my preference is for fantasy though I do read science fiction and detective stories as well.

Managed to get to Aldi this morning to use the first £5 voucher.;) Did 'hardware' shop not groceries and got loads of things have needed for ages. Picked up one of their mini sewing machines just try on basic jobs like hemming etc that I can no longer do because of arthritic hands. There are places who will do such jobs but are quite expensive.

Will go on Thursday to use 2nd voucher and top up food stores. Can't do too much at once as takes two buses each way (no car) and am limited to what I can manage in my shopping trolley.

Think had better go and clear the washing up now.
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.
