Shegar it just means he wasn't the right medium for you, he wasn't on your wavelength. In this life we all feel that we can resonate with some people and not with others .. same in spirit world. There's nothing wrong with you.
  • Fuddle you'll have no problem with M C Beaton. As already said she's very gentle -too much so for me :o.

Lyn I so agree about Anne McCaffrey's Pern books. My favourite author for years. I haven't read the newer ones written by her DS2 either with her or alone. Are they as good?

Keslou definitely try Kelley Armstrong -very women oriented, and Sherrilyn Kenyon - Acheron is yummy and his demon Simi is just what I'd want to be -she likes humans BBQ crispy with hot sauce :rotfl: Also try Jean Johnson's Sons of destiny. The best in this genre though is J R Ward. The fallen angel series is good but Black Dagger Brotherhood is incredible. You need to be quite open minded though.

Morning all I can't really comment on the reading as i don't read really well.
    It's freezing outside brrhhh

I am a bit unsure as what to do as my ds9 unit is on high school grounds that is closed today and everyone thinks his unit will be closed but I haven't been told it is today ,tomorrow it is I know it's such a long walk if it's closed. I will be so cross let's hope it's open.
Then I need to go to the old bank and take money out to put in the new bank our mortgage comes out today.
I have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar

Jem why is it closed? That will give a clue as to whether you are affected or not. For example boiler trouble in the high school should not affect a separate building.

I have two off ill today ds15 has an awful cold that sounds like its hit his chest again and dd7 began vomiting at 5.30. Oh the joys of motherhood.

Hoping no one else catches it, ds9 is on a warning for attendance and dd18 begins uni finally today.
  • SOUTHWALES SAVER yes I've read some of the co-written books between Anne McCaffrey and her son but I don't like the style as well and have stopped looking for new ones. I've the whole of the Pern novels in hardback thanks to some charity shop trawling by DD1 and they were my christmas present a few years back along with the 4 Cattenni ones that she wrote. They don't seem to date or age and I still enjoy reading them over once in a while as much as I did the first time, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • SOUTHWALES SAVER I agree with Lyn about Anne McCaffrey's books written with her son. I have read all of her books including the early, some are easier to read than others. The Pern ones are definitely the best.

Thank you for the book feedback. I have the kindle app on my phone Kez so will see if I can find anything for free or little pence.

Dh's step mam made us Cullen Skink for tea while we were up visiting. It's beautiful and considering it consists mainly of potato and smoked fish, along with household staples I am seriously considering adding it to the meal plan. Yes, the fish is likely to cost around £4 and hardly frugal in my terms but I may be able to use less and freeze for the next time.

Toad in the Hole tonight but cutting the sausages up in order to get away with adding less sausages. Again, managed to stay within my weekly food budget with ease at Aldi this morning.

Could you explain about the money off vouchers for Aldi that you sometimes talk about toughies? What paper are they in? When do they appear? Is there a minimum spend?
  • FUDDLE have a look in the supermarket for fish pie mix, it's usually a mixture of white fish, salmon and smoked haddock. I'm guessing you could go through the packs and find one that had the most smoked haddock in it and use the rest of the fish for a fish pie or fish cakes. the packs usually come in at £3 ish and should contain enough smoked haddock for the Cullen Skink, hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.

I didn't think of fish pie mix. Thank you :D Isn't it really rotten to think of fish as a luxury. Roll on DH getting into sea fishing when we move. My very own hunter gatherer ;)

It is quite sad that he's selling all of his course fishing gear to help fund the move. He's adamant his river fishing days are over as the lure of the sea's enables him to learn new skills but I just want him to hang on to a little bit because he relaxes sat all gnome like on the rivers.

The kiddies have asked for crab lines and a snorkel mask for Christmas. They unfortunately think they are going to be able to catch scallops for me. The fun is in the trying right? :rotfl:

Is there a way of smoking fish ourselves at home?
  • Allydee vouchers come out on Thursday, usually the last of the month in the Deely Mirrer (50p) They are £5 off a £40 spend and are valid until (and including) the following Thursday. They also print about 10 money off vouchers for different things each time, some 30% off, some 50%. I don't use them all each time but generally find some things I buy already or am willing to buy for a change/treat at 50% off. HTH

Just been and used my 1st voucher, 2 more to go. Planned to do one lot last week but ran out of steam. Hoping to do a 2nd shop before school run - trying to stock up a bit for winter. Nov is DS9's birthday month and then Dec is obviously expensive.
