Lol Kate - well you have got a nice cinema up there! We might have Vol 1, I will look next door in the storage facility:rotfl:. There are still almost as many boxes as when we moved them, I really muct knuckle down and go through them, though where we will put anything I unearth is a mystery. I know that I need to do a serious declutter, but just cannot work up any enthusuasm for it
I very much enjoyed The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, I have deliberately avoided the film, as I didn't want to spoil the book. Too many adaptations are poor reflections of the book they purport to be based on:mad:.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Thanks for the recommendations everyone:)
My friend has some sherilynn kenyon books so, they definitely on the list.
terry pratchett its pretty good not gruesome, really funny and good storys.
Fuddle you can download agatha raisin for free for the kindle. Think there an app for your phone and pc to use instead of the, kindle. They seem to be quite short books.25 pages long.
What about 48hours by j bentley. L bartlett, ed james they supposed to be high suspense, no gore but enjoyable.
I'm very visual, if I watch a horror film, well anything really, I dream about it. even happens with books! So ill read any book, but watching really gory things just can't do it. itchi the killer lasted 2 minutes literally, can't watch apocalyspe now, its just to much.0 -
Loved it KATIE and Green Dolphin Country too, well written and un putdownable. I like a good period crime novel myself and a couple of my favourite authors are Pat McIntosh whose sleuth is alive in 1500s Glasgow and Alys Clare who has two sets of books I've enjoyed one set in Fenland East Anglia with a female healer who solves problems and the other set in Hawkenlye in Sussex in the time of King Steven and Empress Matilda and her sleuth this time is an ageing knight called Sir Josse d'Aquine. I also like science fantasy and have long enjoyed the Anne McCaffery 'pern' novels, don't really like horror though, bit of a wimp me!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

You are not alone, I can't watch horror any more as I have the nightmares and reading Stephen Kings Pet Cemetary gave me the heebie jebbies for days.
However I am old enough now to fling the book or turn the goggle box off,so that's OK, but if we are watching something as a family( our adult offspring) then I have to have a cushion to hide behind at crucial moments.0 -

Coo... Alys Clare is prolific!!! Just looking on Amazon!
I have another favorite author. Barbara Kingsolver, those of you who are interested in being self sufficient may really enjoy her non fiction, Animal Vegetable Miracle. Love all her fiction too. Especially Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer. I also have a new promising author I am checking out, Alice Hoffman, she wrote the book that was made into the Sandra Bullock film Practial Magic, but I've picked up a couple of others and have really enjoyed them.
My film wimpiness stems from being 17 when a BF made me go and see a double bill with him, Soldier Blue (a really awful graphic film about Indian massacre) followed by Straw dogs! Yes they were both 18's I was crying so hard after Soldier Blue that most of Straw Dogs washed over me. I didn't speak to him for a fortnight, and TBH with hindsight (a wonderful thing) I could have saved myself years of grief and a d.i.v.o.r.c.e. if I'd dumped him there and then!!! I vowed then that I would never EVER go and see something I didn't fancy again! And I haven't!
I love my books though. I really do

The Poisonwood Bible would make it into my top 100 book list.0

Thanks to all for providing the favorite reading stuffts. I had just been looking at my reading stash with that 'I'm not really inspired' sigh.
I thought maybe I need a change of author or genre or something to jazz it up a bit.
Now I have a list to go to the charity shops with. YAY!
Thank you.0 -
I've, unfortunately, had to ban myself from reading as I have no self control...if I start a book then I have to finish it even if it takes until 4am on a school night. Kids, pets and housework all get ignored.
The 'situation' with the neighbour seems to have resolved itself. He was seen doing a (not so much moonlight) flit this afternoon. Feel a lot happier now.
Off now as posting in phone and I don't like it. Night all, sweet dreams xfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0
