Gailey, before contacting your landlord please check the terms of your leasing agreement. Some landlords won't accept tenants on JSA or benefits so be sure of your situation and terms of contract before you contact them.
Echo the suggestion of even a part time job for you or OH as any income is better than none.0 -
Morning all....
Lots of positive hugs winging their way to all in need today. Sounds like a fair few of us.
Possession - I'm sorry but that did make me smile. Having a drama queen here in eldest DD, I know exactly how you feel. I reply in the over exaggerated, exasperated moany tone that she talks to me in and it gets met with a "look" and then a flounce. (which makes me giggle)
Need to brave the town centre this morning as DD1 needs a new coat and boots, I told her we were leaving by 10am, she's still not out of bed! Grrrrr.
Fancy a lasagne for tea, with some garlicky bread and a nice glass of white."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Mrs LW, I soooo agree! It can even be doing something nice for others. Yesterday I went away into town for an appt to sign the final purchase of the house, parked up at a LA parking (typical LA, min 2 hours blah blah blah) and went away to the solicitors office... To discover that when the girl on the phone booked me in for Thursday at 5 she meant a week on Thursday! Oh I was raging. There isn't even anything down that end of town to waste a bit of time so was back at the car park ten mins in to the two hours I'd paid for parking. As I was approaching my car another drove into the park and I offered them the ticket which they gratefully took and picked me up a little to do something nice for another, even if it was something so small. Little acts like that make the world at large a better place to be in.
Hugs to all who need them today, keep smiling and tell the world that it can keep knocking at you but you won't stay down!

I know it so well. Back of hand to forehead, head upturned - "I can't possibly go to school, I can barely see". I only know she's really ill when she stops singing
So sorry for those with real problems - I won't moan about my trivial ones today.
I spent £84 in Aldi:eek::eek: I didn't even know it was possible to spend so much - not sure what's bumped it up so high. I did buy a few extras as I am away next week and the household won't cope with running out, but didn't think I'd got that much. I am off to do some more teaching in Seoul - I can earn in a weekend what my normal job pays in a month so it is worth the aggro and is such an amazing experience. Goodness it is quick though - I leave Thursday to arrive on Friday, teach Saturday and Sunday all day, and arrive back Tuesday. Back into work Wednesday - Truly jetsetting. I hope I get some kip on the plane.
My aldi groceries includes a jar of lemon curd to make the lemon curd cake. I have also promised someone at work a lemon drizzle cake as she did me a favour and this is her payment. Trouble is, I can't take cake in for her and not the others - i'll get lynched; and I can't take cake into work and leave none here so it looks like a weekend of baking!:D
Hugs to all, and hope you have a good day.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Housing benefit usually contact the landlord during the claim process anyway to verify the details. We were in a no benefits tenancy and got a call to say that the landlord had been contacted and to explain the situation to them. Thankfully because we had been on time with rent and working for years previously our landlord was fine continuing.
Mrs lw thank you. I know I can get through this and I will survive but I need to find something other than anger to get me through it. I will try harder today.0 -
Gailey don't worry ok. It doesn't matter what the tenancy says at this time ok.
The last thing Gailey needs right now is to worry about whether she will lose her home because she's on benefits. I'm all for knowledge and power but right now she has enough to deal without surmising, don't you think?0 -
Oh dear me what a shame so many of us are in the dumps this week, KIDCAT,GAILEY, POOKY, GINNYKNIT, and a few others right now but as usual can remember names....:o............
OH is still in pain with his back , which means Im still getting it in the ear hole.........
Little rosie keeps weeing on the floor , but the biggest problem is I have to wear crocs because of this plantar fasciitis, and my floors are very very shiny tiles , so yes I go !!!! over head soon as my feet touch water , resulting in slipping at 7.30 this morning bang down on my knee.....:eek:.....My floors are cream and you just cant see water on them , next you know is your on your butt with something throbbing away..........
She is on tabs to stop the weeing prob, but obviously they are not working now , and I think within the next week she will have to go to the vets for the final time..........I did ask my son if he would take her for me , cos thats the bit that will do me in , actually going there no ing she wont be coming back with me, so he said he will do it, and give myself til Monday then make a decision...............
Its sunny here today , and ive got my lines full, hubby go into respite Monday and I really cant wait , ive had enough of everything this week, but hopefully things will get better for all of us ..........Sheila .0 -
You can always tick on a housing benefit application form that you don't want your landlord to be contacted. This is perfectly acceptable and the council will be fine about it.0
