Hello everyone
Glad to hear:
nutty's mum is home from hospital, Stilts and kez had a good day out, Mrs VP's decorating has made a big difference, FairyP enjoyed her night out, ginny's DGS is enjoying the tractor.
Today has been a very quiet one, planned to tick several things off my ever growing list and see a friend for a cuppa but friend couldn't make it and I am really tired today, no energy and enthusiasm in short supply. DH was a busy bee, tidyed up front and back gardens, boys helped for a bit and then crashed on the sofa when they had enough. He also took some bits down to the recyling bit at the tip, first stage of the Operation Big Declutter. I have pottered about and did the usual washing, dishes, sorted kids, made lunch and did another Allydee £5 off shop but somehow you can't see my efforts whereas DH's look more, I often think that, I am being daft I think.
Love the pudding ideas, I often get stuck for puddings as not everyone likes the same sort of thing * eg DH and I love crumble, boys don't, boys and I love yoghurt, DH doesn't and it goes on like that. I have never made a sponge pudding before, sometimes make something like banana cake and annoint it with custard for DH and I .... so very yummy in cold weather.
(* I confess there is hardly a cake, biscuit or pudding I don't like :rotfl:)
Can't remember who offered the easy sponge pudding recipe - the one with lots of variations - I would love that thank you.
Planned to roast a chicken for dinner and use the rest for a stir fry tomorrow and maybe a jambalaya after that but there were no left by the time I got there (just after 3pm so...) I have started to make my own burgers but have no energy left so bought what look like good quality fresh ones and will just bung in buns with a few frozen chips (cooked of course!) and some salad on the side.
Tomorrow is the last day before school and need to get school bits organised and kids hair cut which is a major bugbear as they hate it and I don't know where to take them or what to ask for (been doing it myself with the clippers for years). DS9 wants a "proper" hair style and feel mean if I don't let DS6 have his hair cut as well. Wish me luck! Was meant to have a friend and her son over in the afternoon but will cancel as we all really need a quiet afternoon and organised early bedtime before the big day. I agreed to the friends coming over before I remembered about the haircuts. I will offer to see said friend on Tues if she is free as she could do with a break for various reasons.

All this talk of puddings makes me want a big steamed pudding and custard right now.
A real nip in the air here today very windy and wet can't get the washing dry outside so I am prioritising only what absolutely needs to be done for the morning so kids uniforms are in the dryer at the moment as no way they would have dried, try not to use the dryer as it costs a fortune in electricity.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Hello everyone.
Nuttyp - glad your mum is doing better and is out of hospital.
fuddle - good to know you enjoyed time away but sorry to hear of your fall.
Pops - my DH had one of those heart/blood pressure monitors and his readings were always lower than those taken 'officially'. Was told he had 'white coat syndrome' and bp shot up every time a doctor or nurse approached him.:rotfl:
I've not been posting much as being kept busy with some of the voluntary work I do. Is enjoyable but exhausting and never sleep very well.
I used to make sponge puds of various sorts for my family of three hungry males but not anymore as diabetic me is not supposed to eat them.
Hope you all have a good day.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Evening all had a busy day today. Had my washing out by 7.30.
Went to visit my nan 's my great nanna is 96 bless her and my nan I borrowed the white queen books from her I am so pleased as I would not buy them at such a huge price I am too tight. She has bought us a national trust yearly pass so feel really excited about that.
I really need to make more of a effort to see my family
My nanna has asked me if I will have my cousins 7mt old daughter if she is removed from her care by ss. We have had big problems with her not taking care of her properly she is always dirty and the house is a big mess with dog poo everywhere. She has now burnt baby with a cigarette no one else is willing to help her mum will not as she will be held to ransom by her daughter its a big mess. Grandad was at the hospital he came home and says he's having no more to do with her. I said I will but ss will need to put contact in place. Nanna is going to contact them tomorrow as I don't think it's likely baby will be able to leave hospital with mum.
How can someone do that to a child ?I have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -
Evening all.
I don't know. I read through the thread making notes about various pudding recipes I can pass on, help with sponge pudding mix etc and what do I find later on? Everybody else has got there before me and pinched all the good ideas I thought were mine alone, (tears up piece of paper and tosses in recycling bag).
Fuddle: Good to have you back. Be careful with that knee, rest it as much as possible. Glad you like Dorset. If we have to move we rather fancy the west country so we may not be too far away.
What do you mean - is it too late to change your mind?!!
Lobbylud: I appreciate what you are saying but you are right, my DS's situation is quite different. I won't go into it all but my DGS is autistic and is 12 next month. My DS thinks that as a teenager he is going to need extra care and attention which may not be available to him where he is. My DS has set up a little gardening business so that when DS leaves school he can work with his Dad. It doesn't seem likely that he will be able to hold a job down otherwise. Also I think DS would be pleased to be spared the weekly melt down when DS is returned to his Mum. It starts on the ferry going over and reaches a cresendo when he spots his Mum's car. DS always returns on the ferry trying to hide the fact that he is in tears.
Well, I have taken the night off from the drop-in. I made the puddings and took them round but feel so exhausted that I came home again. Fat lot of good that did me. I have had a procession of anxious callers ringing the door bell, all asking if I'm OK and advising me to put my feet up. Which I would if I didn't have to keep answering the door.

You are all such caring loving souls on here, not many of us really know each other but that doesn't seem to make a difference to the support and care given to all by everybody. Am very pleased to report a vast improvement in energy levels since upping the sea kelp to 2 a day. Fuddle so pleased you enjoyed your visit to Dorset, whereabouts were you? Sorry to hear about your accident at Durdle Door, love the place but am terrified oh heights!!!!! Jem, I hope things can be sorted for you to have the little one, hugs to you. Monnagran, what can I say that hasn't been said, keep your pecker up and don't let the $^&&*+! get you down. Sorry have not posted for ages, have my usual influx of summer visitors but do read every day. Love and hugs to you all, you are all:A
p.s. where is GreyQueen?0 -
Monnagran be careful as the pigeons round your way see it all.
I feel heartly sorry for you and The Rev because you can't just forget about what is going on because of the well wishing. Sometimes we have to be kind to ourselves in order to be well enough to be kind to everyone else. They won't have you at all if you burn out - draw the curtains, feet up and cuppa in hand y'hear my friend.

Nan2Many we stayed on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Really lovely place called High Ansty but spent a lot of the time along the Jurassic Coast, Wimborne, Poole and Dorchester. We visited Portland and beach fished off those waters (caught nothing) Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I was warned about the traffic and by gum that was a shock. Every roundabout had a queue of cars waiting.0

We adore Portland, we were there last weekend at the cafe and a walk around. Took our then visitors to Portland, Weymouth and West Bay, they just couldn't decide which they liked best. We do try to avoid them all in the summer but couldn't deprive them a visit! If you get down again try to get to West Bay and Lyme Regis. Right enough waffling, rest that leg my girl.
Keep smiling.
