Morning all
Supposed to be a lovely sunny day but it's a bit overcast at the mo, I'm sure it will sort itself out when the tide changes.
It's been a bit hectic and a bit fraught here with one thing and another but hopefully things will settle down a bit now.
Cats are earning their keep with the amount of mice they're presenting on my doorstep, I'm also finding a lot of spider legs (maybe they don't crunch enough). We're over run with moths though, I don't think I've seen so many moths/butterflies and dragon flies for years.
I had to pick my 8 apples as my tree is under attack from aphids (and therefore ants) and earwigs, they're the first crop we've had from it, I shall be turning them into apple chilli jam. I tried a grease trap to stop the ants getting to the aphids but it didn't work - feisty ants round this way. I shall get it pruned and hope next year it's more robust.
Off for a much needed haircut this morning, I keep my hair really short and try and trim it myself inbetween a decent cut but it's got to the point that I'm considering taking the clippers to my entire head....which wouldn't look good!
Snap to the mice........and bird's with the cat.
Grease trap? Do you mean a grease band? If it is a band make sure it's realy snug to the trunk and you can even do 2/3 layer's for the determined little devil's.£71.93/ £180.000 -
Mcculloch: So glad you enjoyed your stay. We are in Ryde, not the most scenic of places but loads of quirky little shops and very convenient for ferries etc. Anyway, I can see the sea and all the boats from my bedroom window and I will really miss that.
Hope everyne is well. I came to this morning and realised that the church magazine has to be ready for printing tomorrow morning and I hadn't started it. I've done 4 pages so only 12 to go! Should finish sometime in the early hours of tomorrow.

Had a lovely day with friend LA, she came over with four kids, so 6 kids in total. We just sat and chatted all day, kids went bramble picking and wandered round the beck. after that playing on the xbox and mooching in the garden.
We had a chat over everything that's happened and she's really pleased that i'm still going to join with her for the coffee mornings. She also said that i have nothing to worry about, and that they are more scared of me due to what they've told me. People tell me things in confidence and i have never told other people. LA said they obviously scared and threatened because i'm not this meek mouse any more. Also said she very proud of the way were handling everything.
I'm feeling much more positive today.
All the kids enjoyed themselves and didn't want to go.
the winds picking up today but it is lovely and warm still.
OH has gonehe's gone to London for a few days to work. So i'm a bit teary but at the same time happy as i get the bed to myself
. No snoring just called up with my smutty books and a hot choccy heaven!
pops it does look good, were thinking of taking the vintage bus to the transporter bridge. Never know might see you there, its on from 12-4pm. Last year we bought local honey, literally sourced 10 mins walk away from where we used to live. It was gorgeous, with real pieces of honeycomb too
Denise glad your feeling better
pooky we have more butterflies that anything else. Tom aka fat knacker has destroyed my tomato plants jumping at them!0 -
pops glad you're getting back on track now. It can be nasty running out of any meds - I know from experience. Hope you enjoy your days out. I see there is a food festival near me tomorrow but am not sure the legs will let me go as I've been over doing it this last few days and they are protesting - loudly.
Its been a lovely, warm, sunny day here but the skies are darkening quite quickly now and it looks like might be a downpour soon.
I wonder if any of you practical people can advise me. I read the posts earlier about elderflowers and have noticed that quite near to where I live there are a lot of elderberries just ripening. Does anyone know any simple ways I could use them? It just seems a shame to let them go to waste.
Kezlou - so glad you had nice day with friend and are feeling more positive about yourself.:)
MrsLW - hope you have a brilliant weekend.
Right, I'm off to sort out my messy kitchen and give the legs some painkillers. :mad:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

Its been the driest summer since 2006 , so thats not too bad, I can put up with this weather,, still got all doors wide open and its very warm.......:D..No sign of autumn yet .......
Suppose to hit 25 next week, just in time for the children to go back to school.........Mind you theyve had a long hot summer , most children have now had enough of the long holiday , also I expect the parents cant wait til next thursday get here either.........;)
SUNSHINE Glad your shoulder is slowly getting better........

Oh dear,
I know I'll miss people out...thank you for the support and wishing me a lovely day out.
I was impressed with Preston Park and the museum(I may return alone)as I can sit as long as I like and rest. I dislike holding my travel pal up and sometimes do a little too much.
I/we will try Butterfly World perhaps soon.
Kez, I will try and attend the event in M'boro it would be nice to say hello if the chance arose. Getting in I thought no way will I have the energy but we'll see.
The buses ran to time and connected as they were supposed to.
I know the food festival you are talking of AOT I was tempted by it but that may be too much even for me.

Morning everyone,
The sun is out here but its still quite cold so will get the washing done early and get it on the line and hopefully dried.
Need to bake some biscuits or cake as the tins are nearly empty.
Not much else happening just some exercises I do daily on my shoulder.
Hope everyone as a good day.
Hugs to anyone that needs them
Kezlou Glad you had a nice day with your friend

Morning all
Our weather's the same as Sunshine's, so WM on with towels, they'll need all day to dry, I think. Working a big chunk of today, then we're all going out for DH's birthday, was 50 earlier this week, then that will be today over, more or less!
Tomorrow will be more productive, as I need to finish sorting kids' stuff for school next wee, do a proper stock take and meal plans, and do some proper cleaning. We spent more than we should have whilst away, so, along with tonight's meal costs, I'll have to be really tight with money for most of September!

Overcast and windy here - supposed to brighten up later so I'll get the washing out. Managed to pick up a lovely table cloth and napkin set yesterday in a CS, it's unbleached cotton with a cut work design, edged in red embroidery, very festive! It had a mark on so was reduced, the marks washed out so I'm chuffed. Also picked up a gorgeous polka dot duvet cover, different sized dots on each size so plenty of patchwork fabric there!
Our tax credits stopped a few weeks ago as they said they'd not had our updated figures. Funny that as we'd sent them off, then phoned to check they'd got them and yes they had. So we've had to redo it all again, I've had 3 payments go astray so am running on empty in my housekeeping account. I know it will get sorted and I'll get the money back but if I can work with what I have now then that chunk of money will go into the mortgage. Nothing like a bit of enforced belt tightening to make you sit up and take notice!
Made blackberry muffins last night with a handfull of berries from Inlaws bramble plant, they've turned out lovely and moist with a hint of sharpness....yum!
Someone has offered us some pallets that need collecting today so I shall get my big saw out tomorrow and get chopping....I do love free fire wood!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
