Had just popped in to wish everyone a merry Christmas and see your post nutty, am so sorry what awful news to receive at any time but today just makes it worse. I am assuming it was the big announcement earlier of the courier company? I do hope other companies will be looking to take on new staff as I would guess there will be contracted need filling.
Thank you all for your lovely messages, it has really helped me and given me a much needed lift, I know not making the cake etc is not a huge deal, but for me is a sign of how much I am simply not managing to do. The new kitty arrived on Friday and has settled remarkably well, she has given me such a boost seeing her blossom.
Today has been very relaxed and quiet, my parents arrived as ever at the time I was due to serve lunch, but I didn't get upset. They gave us yet more huge serving dishes I don't have cupboard space for, in return we broke my mother's cardinal rule, and have her a steam mop. She has always refused to accept gifts that were household items but I decided this year that as you give so shall you receive! Her face was a picture and worth holding dinner for.
Kids enjoyed the day especially as I didn't make them get dressed so they stayed in pj's all day, it caused my parents some comments but I cut them short.
On that note I am off for a small glass of port, nutty I will keep you in my prayers.0 -
AwwwNuttyp thats terrible, Oh well tighten your belts starting tomorrow and we will all be here for you xxClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Nutty, huge hugs. You can get through this, you've got the skills to tighten that belt and I'm sure he'll find something else very soon x
Lovely relaxed day here (well for some, I don't seem to have stopped). My parents were due for the day but both are suffering from flu so we'll have another Christmas day when they're feeling up to it. I'm feeling a bit wooly headed so hope I don't come down with anything."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
I'm so sorry nuttyp, what rotten news to get on Christmas Day! (((HUGS))) Did the staff know it was on the cards?
kidcat So glad your day went well and you didn't let your parents wind you up :T
Lyn glad you're safely back and spending time with Zebra
We had a nice day, first going to DD2 and family to exchange presents (couldn't say too long as they had been invited out for Christmas lunch, but it was as always lovely to see them). Then we went to DD1 for lunch. We didn't have Christmas pudding this year; DGS's girlfriend had made cheesecake, and it was lovely. We did take a pudding with us in case anyone fancied some, but we were all too full
When we got back I fell asleep as I'd had 3 glasses of wine! Woke up just in time for Doctor Who.
Pooky Just seen your post. So sorry about your parents! hope they make a speedy recovery and that you don't catch it.0 -
Nutty - huge hugs lovey - XXX
Kidcat - Yay, you go lass - I'm just picturing your mother's face and it made me chortle - glad you had a good day. Our bought in Christmas tasted great too, Ok so the 4 bird roast wasn't quite as good as the made from scratch beef wellington we had last year, but last year we had my parents staying so endless child amusing while I was stuck in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove! Bur it was pretty darn good and better than a lot of things I've paid for when eating out, and so easy - I asked hubby at one point "what am I missing, I have this huge feeling that I've forgotten something", but only because I wasn't rushing like a mad thing.
Hope you've all had a good day - Father Christmas did well here and presents were much appreciated. Hubby got me some lovely things although he cheated - we had set a £10 limit for silly pressies which he did then added a nice bottle of Jim Beam maple bourbon because "he thought I deserved a treat" bless 'im.
Take care and love to all - Hx0 -
((((((((((((((((((nutty)))))))))))))) so sorry to hear about your OH's job, news like that is no good at any time. I know you will be panicking at the moment but once you are over the shock, you can make plans. There are other jobs out there for him, you have some income from your job, you are savvy with stretching money and we will support you as much as you need. You will ok, just you wait and see.
Well done kidcat! I would love a steam mop if your parents don't want it! Lovely to hear about the kitty.
Pleased to hear you had nice times SDG, ginny, softstuff pooky, stilty, ivy and anyone else I've missed.
Nice day had here though we were all super tired, I had to have nap earlier and off to bed now hoping for a lovely lie-in but probably get woken by poshcat as usual, we'll see. MIL phoned whilst I was making dinner with carols on so pretended I couldn't hear it and the kids shouting from the living room (DH was in the bathroom getting ready.) Oh dear what a shame I missed her.
Night night all, thinking of people whom we haven't heard from in a while on here X0 -
Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas. I was working Xmas eve and xmas day night shift so feels like a normal day for me with some pressies to open. Work dead and here on my own so getting paid for sitting on ever expanding backside eating fine things and chatting to you lot so not all bad and off tomorrow so can catch up then. Got some great presents from family and friends so am a lucky girl.
Nutty so sorry to hear your bad news especially today.
Princesswelcome look forward to hearing from you.
Catch up with u all later xx0 -
Glad to hear from you Kidcat. And I'd love to see a photo of your mothers face when she got the steam mop. That alone could put a nice smile on your face for the whole of 2015!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
