Sheila hugs, this really has not been your year. Here's hoping you have got all the bad stuff out of the way before 2015.

Possession just a quick consideration but what about insurance? Carers need high insurance to protect both the carer and the caree.

Have been reading along but am in a very dark place at the moment, can't stop crying and I really haven't had anything to contribute. Take care all in this busy week.

For Kidkat I don't post much, but I really admire how you cope.

Possession, years back my mum had a similar arrangement with an elderly chap. She'd go round with a nice lunch for him, have a bit of a chat, spend an hour doing whatever was needed. It worked out really well for both of them. If anything came up that she wouldn't be there the day after (seldom), she'd leave a nice cold plate in the fridge for him for the following day and stay a bit longer to do other things subsequently. There was a decent amount of give and take. I think it can be a decent thing, it's certainly something I'd be happy to do if the opportunity arose.

Sorry to hear of your big to-do with the op Sheila, glad though they spotted it whilst you were in the position for dealing with it IYSWIM. Hope you're feeling perkier soon.

Kidcat, sending hugs, sorry to hear it's tough for you right now.

I'm sat here this morning wondering which numpty thinks it's a good idea to mow and strim the nature strip (council owned) next to us beginning at 7am. Blinkin indecent.

Sheila what a shock, glad you're OK now.
Kidcat big huge (((hugs))). If there's anything we can do, name it and it will be done.
Fuddle, I hear everything you say. I'm feeling a bit railroaded as my friend and her husband are so keen on the idea, but it is something I need to consider carefully.

Huge hugs to Sheila and kidcat (if there is anything I can do please shout lovey).

Had better weekends here than this one - DD was by either assessment used by school or nursery 'better' from her chiken pox yesterday morning - no new spots for 5 days (nursery's definition of safe to come back) and spots all scabbed over (school's) so as I would have sent her to school if it were a school day I took her to her riding lesson, only to notice as I took her hat off afterwards, a new spot, by the time I got her home (only a half hour drive) she was covered! I was so worried I rang 111 in case we were dealing with something else, only wait 2 hours to be rung back and to be told yes you can get a second crop of spots! Poor little flower is now really covered and is proper itchy and fed up now - although she feels pretty much better in herself I am waiting for some major meltdowns next week as she goes more and more stir crazy not going out of the house. I may be a jabbering wreck by half way through next week! It also means that she misses the nativity - she's pretty happy about that one as is so totally bored of rehearsals as they've done seemingly nothing else for weeks!! but also the party which she is going to be less impressed with, not mentioned the possibility that if she's not better she may miss her friends' Frozen party at the weekend too as that REALLY will not go down well as it is another opportunity to wear her beloved Anna dress!

Not going to help that both hubby and I have essays due in this week - he's working on an extension already and I may well need one as was going to be a pinch anyway - not exactly great timing!

Hugs to all who need one and catch you all later - will keep reading as you do all know you're what keep me sane don't you? - Hx

Possession they may be very keen because it will probably take some of the burden off themselves so undoubtedly there is a bigger issue here. Also, without casting aspersions on their motives, I know what a person is charged for an hours care... and I know what I earn. It will be much cheaper to buy in extra care privately than it will be to get that extra from a company.

I just want you to be aware. It's sticky enough for me and I have backing of my companies policies.

stiltwalker Poor DD :-( I hope these spots clear quickly. Piritin helps with the itching, but i expect you're already using that. Good luck to you and your DH with the essays xx

kidcat Sending you some big ((HUGS)) sweetheart, sorry you're feeling so low at the moment and I hope something unexpected and very nice happens to make you feel better xx

Sheila What a horrible shock  So glad you're all right and that your foot seems to be healing well. I had a minor op while you were in hospital, and had to have a spinal anaesthetic because my heartbeat does odd things sometimes too, as well as the fact I have high blood pressure these days. So the anaesthetist wasn't willing to give me a general.

Must, must, must get my cards for posting written today!

And I'm having an op today to remove a crumbled tooth root that keeps giving me abscesses. We area load of decreps in here!
.....but the good side is that we are hitting the shops first before the dental hospital, and the RV is buying me my birthday/xmas pressie :j:j:j
  • Hope it all goes OK MAR and that you can be comfortable and have no more abscesses as a result. Enjoy your shopping trip and find yourself a really nice present, Lyn xxx.
