The best bit is that you can sit where the driver should be and pretend to drive it!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

No need to worry about the DLR Mar they've been running years and years. It's only a light railway, there isn't much to go wrong (famous last words).
Not sure when I last posted but we're all bumbling along here. I need to make mince pies but I'm otherwise pretty Christmas-ready, presents are bought and wrapped with only a couple of exceptions and I'm not doing dinner so no need to prep for that. I do need to clean and tidy the house but that can wait a bit.
I have the possibility of some more unusual work (for me) coming up. A good friend needs carers for her elderly FIL. She wants them to come 3 times a day. She is considering getting someone in for the lunch visit to cook him a proper meal and spend a bit of time with him, for an hour but without needing to get him dressed etc. I said I'd ask around but she suggested I do it, and take the dog with me as he used to have a dog and really misses it. She thinks it would be really good therapy for him and as he's gradually doing less and less and it feels like he's giving up maybe she's right. I do have reservations though, not least that there may be some emergency medical issue come up and I have no training for anything like that. Also it's a big commitment to look after someone every day (they would make arrangements for weekends and holidays) without fail even in school hols etc. I could take DD with me in school hols but even so we'd be tied to being here in the middle of the day. Plus I'd be worried that something going wrong would affect our friendship. On the other hand it would be good to have a small steady income while I build up freelance work, and it doesn't pose a problem with dog/child care. Plus my friend would have someone she trusted looking out for him. Need to think it through a bit more I think.
House sale/purchase also bumbling along very very slowly. Our buyers have had problems with their mortgage and had to switch lenders and that still isn't settled which is a bit worrying. The estate agent said since the new rules earlier this year they have encountered a lot of problems with mortgages being refused.0 -
You know how supportive I am of ideas Possession don't you? Well this idea, however lovely, could go horribly wrong. After a year of care and domestic work, I would never agree to working for anybody privately. The reasons being that so many people I build rapport with enjoy my company. That is lovely and rewarding but after a while the extras begin to creep in. They are small but they are very annoying because they expect you to work extra for nothing, work into someone else's time without any regard for them or my need for my allocated travel time. If I gave some of my customers an inch they certainly would take a yard. Thankfully I have the back up of my company policies and procedures and have to say no but privately I would find that I would feel guilty for saying no to the smallest of requests that would soon build up to be expected.
If you can get some ground rules agreed, particularly that you have to stick to your working ours and that you won't (if you don't want to!) be doing/getting extras on the way to the job... and you have the ability to say no, for your sanity, to someone who you like and respect then it's worth a go but you will most probably have to be strong at some point.0 -
Hi all...I had my foot op on Monday morning , but while I was under general my hearft started having irregular heart beats which they call etopic beats.....
As I was having the op in a private hospital they do not have an a&e, it was decided that I should be transfered to our NHS hospital where I was taken to the cardiac unit ward, I remained in hospital for 5 days , the cardiac dr didnt know why that had happened as I had pre assessment appoinment and that was my 3 rd op in 5 months and in total I have had 17 operations and never had heart problems.....I had a echo heart scan which showed nothing , I have now had appointment to have a nuclear scan , should be within next 3 weeks......
So im now on 3 dif heart pills daily for life......!!
Just my dam luck hey , tomorrow I go back to private hospital for foot check up, the foot is doing very well and I think its healing ok , no pain at all now , bandage will be taken off tomorrow and a thinner bandage will be replaced.......
Ive been staying at my sons since I was discharged from hospital and it was really nice to get home this morning to my own home, will catch up with all the posts this week to see whats been going on ....SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -

Hope you are feeling better soon Sheila, what a shock.
It also shows that we would be in a mess if we only had private hospitals. NHS is always there when you really need it.0
