I also agree Fuddle, your mum has to want to change. Perhaps this shock will be the kick up the backside she needs. Change IS possible, as DH has shown. He has now been alcohol-free for almost 2 years. Thank goodness.
Went to see a couple of houses for 2nd viewings today. 1st one, lovely house but rubbish location and tiny tiny postage stamp garden because they'd reduced it so much building an extension. Surprised they got planning permission for it actually.
2nd one, lots of house for your money although in dire need of an update, but nothing that wouldn't wait a while. We may make an offer although it has to be a low one and they may laugh at us.0 -
Thank you all very much for your words. I am just so relieved to be away from it. Very selfish I know but had I been up there trying to deal with it I would have been in a pretty bad state mentally. I am so sure of that.
Anyway. We visited Portsmouth today. Such a lovely little quay. I went to the Cl4rks outlet and got myself some lovely little sturdy lace up shoes. I have the emergency phone tonight so was called out after tea - put my shoes on, oh golly. They are so comfortable! They cost £35 down from £45I will ask the physio about inserts and get her opinion on whether she thinks I need them. Thanks for the feedback.
I awoke very early this morning so came down to crochet my cardi. I only have one ball of wool left  I should get the whole of the back finished though.
Not sure what we're doing tomorrow. I am working a few calls (it is my weekend off) and then it depends on whether I am needed for emergency cover until I can palm the emergency phone off on my supervisor. Fingers crossed it's quiet.
Off to go look at recipes. Perfect Saturday night behaviour :rotfl: take care all0 -
It's not selfish to be relieved to be away from it fuddle, it's a healthy sense of self preservation. If others want to go down a dark path even after you've offered a torch, you shouldn't feel obliged to go with.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Morning doorsteppers
Had a late night visit from DS7 who had a bad dream so we snuggled up for a while and then he went back to his own bed. He is still at the cuddly stage (only at home mind you.) I am making the most of it as I know it won't last for ever. Both boys slept in until nearly 9 which is very rare, maybe once a year that happens.
Changing all the bedding today and switching to the thickest duvets. We have been using the autumn weights til now - well the boys are just 2 very cheap and thin Ikey duvets each but ours is an all seasons job. Then if the weather gets really cold, the boys can use one of the thin duvets as well as their winter tog duvet and the other one goes under their bottom sheet. They are great as they fit into a small washing machine and dry quickly so we used them for night time training and they are still in use.
Have a good day everyone. hope you don't get any/many call outs fuddle.0 -
Glad you found some comfy shoes Fuddle :T I bought some new slippers last week with "anatomical insoles" and they were so dear for a pair of slippers that I was a bit  but my feet have been thanking me ever since.
Before last week I'd been wearing £5 ones from Mr A, with memory foam in them - they were lovely at first, but after a month or so they no longer gave my feet any support and had to be replaced, so a bit of a false economy really.
Gentle ((HUGS)) Rosanna, I hope you feel better soon. Oh and please give Henry a cuddle for me!
Possession - Good luck with the house if you decide to make an offer
SQ - We've till got our summer duvets on - OH is always like a radiator anyway and so am I atm :rotfl: I've got a fleece blanket I put on to start off with on some nights, then end up taking it off in the early hours. BTW our younger DGS is 8 and still enjoys a cuddle at home, so hopefully you'll be able to cuddle DS7 for a while yet!0 -

Had a productive afternoon sorting out the garage, and going to be doing a bit of ebay listing tonight.0 -
Evening all
Have been reading along but my brain's been a bit "fuzzy" the past few days so haven't had the capacity to post. Woke up at 5am with a stonking migraine so I assume that's why I've been feeling so wooly.
Been stupidly busy with my little business, a huge thank you to all of you that have ordered from me and made it what it is. I'm so pleased it's taken off as it has and have lots of plans in place for next year. Need to have a rethink about how I charge people though as I've been nice and not charged a deposit and I've been mucked around royally in the past week by 3 people. I don't have the time to keep chasing people up, run a business, run a home, care for DH and stop for breath. But hey ho - you learn as you go.
DD1 has asked for help as she feels she may have depression - she's not coping at all well with her friends all being off over the country at Uni and she's not enjoying her course at all. We've had a good chat about it and agreed to give it a few weeks before seeking medical help - she's not been eating well (she's has eating issues in the past) so I'm taking full charge of making her eat properly and she's going to take a multivitamin and stick to some more sociable bed times and getting up times. At nearly 19 I'm not sure how much input I should be still having with these things but she obviously needs help and I'm happy to give it but don't want to "over do" the mothering. Such a fine line.
Did a full roast for lunch which was lovely - really needed it after my manky headache - had a lovely long walk along the cliffs with DD2 and had a good chat and then home to watch Christmas films with a bit of hand sewing to relax with. Getting peckish now so think some cheese and biscuits will do the job"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
