Quite jealous of those of you with allotments, it seems to be something they don't do around here. Given that most people who have houses here end up with giant gardens, I guess they don't consider it a need. I looked into landsharing, but nothing doing around here, I guess they're too posh for it! Look forward to one day having more than my parsley (I found enough sunny spot on my balcony for that). I guerilla planted chives yesterday (in the flats garden, in a spot where a sprinkler waters but there was no plant), we'll see if it gets dug up.

Sheila, if you did want to grow something, it needn't cost much. You could always try seed saving and sprout your own. My grandmother-in-law doesn't buy anything for her garden, just saves seeds and goes again.

I never thought I'd say it, but even with just my parsley, growing it and then putting it in a meal really does give a great sense of satisfaction.

good morning all, Well yesterday was a very nice time. We were invited along with my mum to DD new house for the first sunday lunch she had cooked. We had roast chicken and it was lovely.
They are settled in now, and its looking nice and cozy and warm.

Today we are visiting the estate agents that she rented off, they have taken another rental payment even tho they moved out over a week ago. Annoyed as we have had to lend DD some cash to buy petrol and also pay her first mortgage instalment. Fingers crossed we can sort it out today.

I am going for a wander around the next town with DD and my mum today. Only need bread but will look for any major bargains while wandering around.

OH is feeling a bit better, although buddie the dog is very sleepy today. He got up in the night for the toilet, he has puppy paper under the stairs for emergencies - and then he had a midnight feast of his biscuits. How anyone can hurt a doggy I will never unstand, he has unconditional love for us all here.

Off to get dressed x have a good and safe day all x

  • Hello everyone

Lovely sunshine here, hope you are all getting some too. Went to alldays straight from school run and it was easy to park and fairly quiet. Contrast to Sat when there was a queue to get into the car park so I went elsewhere for bits that couldn't wait. Bought some more bits for the freezer, meat mostly especially good value stuff like turkey mince and chicken thighs.

However the good luck ended there when I got stuck in a huge traffic jam on my way home. When I finally got to my roundabout, my exit was blocked off by police cars so had to join an even longer queue and go back on myself and then a much longer way home. Roadworks and a broken down truck enroute added to the tailback. The frustrating thing was that I had to pass the school again where I need to go before this afternoon's classes to hand in the once again forgotten wellies for outdoor learning. Year 6 teacher gets cross if they forget and no wellies means no outdoor session.
I will check the traffic in a mo and set off again - great fun! Just had coffee, toast and one of my favourite alldays yoghurts (raspberry thick and creamy.... sigh - only bought one this time otherwise they vanish too quickly ;)) Essential sustenance in case I get stuck in traffic again over lunch :D

Today's broken item is my sunglasses and poshcat's misdemeanour was to sleep on top of my clean apron and oven gloves which were left on top of the hob (with a lid).

ginny - hope you had a nice meet-up with Smiley. My dad used to buy my mum the most awful pressies. I never forget one year when my mum got a set of new paint brushes (for DIY not art). Even more galling as she did all the DIY. Mind you I bought my mum a pan scourer for her gift at a school Christmas fete one year -I was very young then in my defence and would only have had a few pennies to spend unsupervised.

Spikey - hope you get what you need from school and manage to find the time to sort the appointments etc. Well done with the homework!

Won't be long until the results Sheila, hang in there.

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Mrswhite))))))))))))))))))))))))))) thinking of you.

Bit of a shock, I have a job interview tomorrow! It's just working at a pre-school preparing and serving meals, term time only for a few hrs per day but it would pay some bills at least and I would hope to get freelance writing work at home too.

    Afternoon all

SQ - Send some sun down this way please, we've had a thunderstorm over head since around midnight last night, it's very rumbly with lots of lightening....knocked our power out for a couple of hours this morning too. It's rained non stop since yesterday afternoon......the cats are not impressed. I've even got the heating on, in the day time as there's so much washing to dry and I just can't get warm.

I used the powerless time wisely and did a big clean in the master bedroom, pulled all the furniture out and cleaned under and behind then moved on to the bathroom and gave it a good scrub, changed the shower curtains etc. Just as I'd finished, the power came back on :)

Need to go dig the cat baskets out as 2 are off to the vet tomorrow for a flea check up - we've run out of flea treatment so they need to do a "free" check on them before they'll sell us anymore....seems daft as they know we have 5 cats but said "oh just bring a couple in".

Possession - Good luck with the interview - sounds like an ideal job to fit in around your kids and some freelance stuff. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations on the interview possession, I will have me fingers crossed for you. Toes as well if that helps.

Been on a quick trip with DD. Managed to get some YS stuff from Mr M. Popped into home bargains and found a couple of bits n bobs. We also called in Metalan but refused to get anything. Then it was home.
I am at home now, and have the heating on but its a bit grey and dull here.
Now off to sort the tea stuff out, and I will be doing a lemon curd cake at the same time.

Ok well must do some more housework. take care x

Pooky you can have our sunshine but it is not very warm I am frozen have my coat on and a blanket.

    Good luck Possession

Don't think our lease means a thing, emailed agents again this morning. She had already heard from my next door neighbour, so she did not trust me, my neighbour I mean. Was told I did not need permission to change utilities. It is bold in the lease and mentioned several times.

We have been here 7 1/2 month and I still not had a bill for gas and electricity. They won't take my money. They agree something and do the opposite. They promise the earth and spit on you. That is the only way I can describe them. If you are thinking of using them DON'T USE Npower..

Possession I loved my little dinner nanny stints :) Fingers crossed that this could work for you in terms of a guaranteed, reliable income, allowing you time to work at what you enjoy as well as being a home maker. I sense a less stressful, calm and purposeful life ahead. ;)

What a dreadful working weekend but I get to relax right now so not going over it. I have 40 minutes to grab my tea, crochet and catch up here before I get the sausages on. Accompanying with yorkshires, carrots and gravy.

I can only do a little crochet cardi as I am running out of wool. I have more on order but doubt it will be here before Weds. The girls would both like a cardi like mine. The only snag being the pattern is an adult pattern. It's not beyond me as it's an easy pattern but some thought and measuring will be needed. The only snag is I agreed to them choosing the colour yarn. What's the betting on tangerine orange? :rotfl:

Thanks everyone. Fuddle I meant to mention that I saw lots of wool in Aldi at the weekend. No idea on price I'm afraid, as I don't knit and was in a rush.
