kidcat especially well done to your boy! I seem to recall you saying some time ago that he had had some official assessment which was gloomy about his prospects as an independent adult? Well, today he has stuck a metaphorical two fingers up at the experts - on the threshold of college, you must all be so very proud! One life - your life - live it!0
-
Nargle yes he did have an assessment done that didn't give good prospects so this is a major i'll hievement and huge relief for us.
We have enrolled officially at college and we will do dinner out to celebrate tonight. OH will miss as he has been sent to London today and won't be back until 10pm. He left at 2.30am so we aren't expecting any interaction when he comes home. He didn't get home last night until 7pm so had little sleep.0 -
Mar - shall we send you some sweeties to perk you up?
I have the mother of all migraines, all the racing about getting organised for the holiday, collecting meds, exam results, college enrolment, vets etc has taken its toll - stupidly decided to try paracetamol to see if it would clear, it hasnt and now I have to wait four hours to take something stronger.
Waiting on the vet to call with test results as well today, she is hopeful we can start meds tomorrow as long as the liver function isnt too bad.0 -
Hi all, DD did a resit for one of her gcse's and she got exactly the same grade as last time. Needless to say we had lots of tears, but a visit to the farm shop caf! with me and her nan for tea and scones, she opted for a homemade cheesecake, and we were all smiling as we left. Amazing what a naughty treat can do.
Well done to all the others with proud children, I hope they enjoy collage as much as my daughter is at the moment. She has one more year left then onto another collage for a half degree course over 3 years.
I am going to a pampered chef party tonight, I will not be buying I am only going to assist my daughter into not buying. I looked online and a baking tray is over £30.... surley no one buys this stuff?

Freecycle is a wonderful thing to have at your fingertips. The side wall of the pond collapsed last night and we've spent this lunchtime rescuing all the fish and having decided that the pond was not reclaimable decided to try to rehome the fish. Our friend took the smallest two and a lovely lady on Freecycle has offered a home in her dads pond to the seven clonkers that are left swimming in the half barrel. Hopefully she'll collect them this evening and they'll be happy fishies again by the morning. We'll fill in the hole and compact the soil then this autumn I'm going to get some willow withies and make a growing wigwam for my little Zebra to play in when he's older which will be lots of fun for him and any siblings that may arrive over the years.0

Mrs LW - What a wonderful idea! Zebra will love that.
Well done to Master Nargle and Master Kidkat too! Amazing work by all of them. My nephew passed 13 with mostly A* so I imagine he's very pleased with himself too.
DD2 is still on a high, bless her. It means she can do the 2 year course that leads on to Uni rather than a 3 year one. We go and do all the official registration next week.
Just went to pop into Mr S's for a few treaty bits for pudding when we come home tonight and there was a 25% off clothes sale....found a pair of jimjams for DH, reduced to 1/2 price with a further 25% off.....£5.25 for a pair of pj's seemed like a bargain."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Well done all exam successes and particularly well done Sir Kidcat. There's nothing like the feeling of thumbing your nose at someone who has put you down, however innocently. Well done also to Lyn's DD. I really feel for the good, caring teachers whose efforts and concern have enabled the children in their care to succeed. I think they are often forgotten in the general euphoria, (or the gnashing of teeth). Let's hear it for the enablers of this world.
Plan for today
Shampoo the sitting room carpet with the new V*x. Start sorting out the chaos in the bedrooms.
Actual day so far ----
Take V*x out of box. Discover there are no instructions. Get the thing together by trial, error and a lot of swearing. Go on line to get hold of some idea of how to use the thing. Later, much later, work out how it operates. Begin to fill with solution. Interrupted by doorbell. Another vicar from the town arrived to make himself known to the Rev. Made coffee and had delightful hour chatting to said vicar. Very late for lunch so cobbled something together hastily. Still no hob for the cooker so three cheers for the microwave. Finally shampoo the rug, which is HUGE, and quail in shame at the colour of the water in the tank. Collapse with a cuppa. It's gone 4.00pm and don't feel a bit like starting on the bedrooms. Fall back on the procrastinators best labour saving device: TOMORROW.
Nutty: Whatever is the baking tray made of? Platinum?

This is highly embarrassing but finally ds2 allowed to look in his for the first time in nearly a year :o
So went to the dentists, dragging a petrified little man with me. Last time we were there had a male dentist who sliced his gum open by accident with mirror thing they look at teeth with. So this time we had a lady surgeon who was lovely and played with ds2 to calm him down while inserted a huge needle into his gum. Minutes later she extracted his tooth and its all nice and pain free
His big tooth had broken through the milk tooth and snapped it in half. One half ready to fall out, other half was stuck behind another tooth. Yes i am really bad mummy. But she did say considering they in pretty shape, no fillings, no plaque but may need braces as his jaw is to small for his teeth. Back in three months for a check up.0 -
Just want to add my congratulations to everyone getting exam results today.
And to welcome back monnagran.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

I have a pollarded willow that you can take as much off as you like - then you can start with straight withies of even length. I might steal the idea too, if I can work out where to put it one...)0
